Athlon XP 2600+ barton, 512MB ram, bought new
Athlon XP 2400+ throughbred, 512MB ram, pieced together from hand me downs
PIII 500, 192MB ram, freebee (wonder why?)

Only using one at a time right now, but in winter they make a good heater to keep the room warm while they crunch

I am using an Athlon xp 2600+ (Barton). 5 short Einstein S5's so far (virtualy same time and credit)

~ 3900 seconds 20.00 credits = 18.5 / hr

Seti enhanced (only 2 results on file, averaged)

~ 26600 seconds 59.75 credits = 8.1 / hr

almost 2.3x

Just past 50K in seti & just got past 20000 place today! Hopeing to reach 100K total by end of May. Oh, and I got 1.32 cobblestone in pirates, too!

No you don't want to run an optimized BOINC client because it will increase your claimed credit for the other projects and may not be fair to the others. I think you can run the Trux optimized calibrating BOINC core client (Here). It is able to report fair credits for SETI and the other projects that you run.

Just make sure your truxoft_prefs.xml looks like this:

I've been debating on switch to the calbreating cleint, but been hessident on do so, ans not to mess up data for seti beta.


I have been running it with beta and havn't seen any problems.

ditto here. I really like the calibrating feature. I am still waiting for reliable process priority though (the ability to run seti as long as there is work, and then switch to another project while seti is down)

I had a question about that... What actual difference does it make if your the last to return a WU?... Isn't the credit granted going to be the same?

Not really. the credit granted will usually be based on the first three returned results (unless the validator is behind for some reason)

Given this, it would appear one would be better off delaying the return of Work Units if the goal was to maximize credits received.


But, if you use trux's calibrating boinc client, and you have small cache, you can be that first person there with the ~30 credits. And you have to also think about not dragging down the credits of others as much as keeping your own credits up.

Near its end SETI@Home Classic had over 5 Million registered users.

Anyone know how many made the switch over to BOINC? and out of all those who registered or activated their BOINC accounts How many are actively crunching?

Anyone else missing results listed under their account?... I started up in mid-December, but just looking at my Dell Desktop results, there's a gap from 12/22 with a few reported results until 1/19... I know I was crunching all that time (shows 'em in Boincstats), but they're not showing under the computer's results here.

Also, my HTC computer started on 12/23, but the first result is shown as 1/31.

Anyone know what happened to the other results or have a similar problem?

PS: seems my RAC has taken quite a hit over the last week as well, so I'm really puzzled now.

It's not a problem. Seti will delete results a little while after they've been validated, usually about a week. But they do keep track of your earned credit.

uses boinc-5.3.12.tx36, but still is claiming arount 3-4

How long does it take before it starts claiming?

It should be climbing a little bit with every result. If you look at the results for that computer, it looks like it isn't even trying. Make sure you have the line

<calibrate_credit>SETI@Home</calibrate_credit>

in the truxoft_prefs.xml file that lives in the main boinc directory.

Thanks for all your work so far, This client has averaged out all my computers nicely. (one was way too high, another too low).

I have noticed a bug with the process priority however. I run seti 90%, einstein 10%, with process priority to seti and a .5 cache. As long as there is at least one einstein work unit, the computer runs 90% seti, 10% einstein, and it brings in enough seti to keep about 1/2 day cache. So far so good. Then, it eventually runs out of work for einstein. About a day after running out of einstein, it stops bringing in new work for seti. When the work for seti runs out, it asks einstein for 1 second of work, runs that for 2-3 hours, then finally asks seti for 1/2 day of work.

Where is the startup folder located that you mentioned. I would like to try dragging the BOINCMgr.Exe shortcut to that folder. Where exactly is it?

Actually I have found both tx37 & tx39 on Trux's site, but they are both beta versions

Have you checked to see if the processor is running on the hot side. This can skew the results somewhat.


I looked at both computers (on SETI) and it looks like the p4 is taking a very long time to process WU's as well. p4's will throttle down when running hot to avoid overheating (AMD XP's won't). I wonder if these computers are in a hot room, in a closet, or something like that? Try moving them somewhere cooler, maybe

I say by this weekend (including) it will be back on track.


I don't think they will have it completely fixed until classic is completely shut down, & the hardware that it uses can be utilised for seti/boinc (so my bet is (hopefully sooner) January sometime)

I have been running r8.1 on win 98se on a 700 mhz celeron for a month or two no problems. It does a Wu in about 6-8 hours
