yea, I would use this signal as a test of the SETI groupies and the system and its ability of detection or not.

I don't know if the SETI system is used to figure out other signals out there.

we have been sending messages for over 100 years from the start of radio, an alien with equal or better technology could have heard us already from 100 light years out. The recent planetary finds out there make alien life yet more plausible. What concerns me is think about the very short time man on earth is and the advance of technology has grown, but is but a flash of time in celestial time. Would we find such an alien, and yet find out that life had dissappeared. Would we find residual data left over from a technical alien life? Can we sort out the mass of data to find that? I hope we can, I wonder if the new software would integrate seemless into the current SETI software or will there be something new? Something that takes advantage of the 64 bit crunching?

Welcome aboard Zuhra, big job ahead.

I heard through the grapevine that the shipment didn't include power cords.... they'll be an additional $7500.00

When they get it all together they find this one screw was left out...

I noticed the SETI Classic woldnt take or get Work Units, I poked around and found the BOINC, I thought I read they turned off the classic, period, and they took a "snapshot" of the work units done by everybody as a matter of record keeping, any further classic work units may not get credited...or so I think,,,

I tried my classic and its working now, I presum they still have it going or maybe they turned it on till things were resolved with boinc?

The seti boinc page has news of the servers being down for a while.
I think theyll get things ironed out, like anything, you never know what you get till you dive in headfirst into something...

hydrogen chemical reacts to create helium and further down the line, happens on the sun all the time. It will become a more helium ball than hydrogen.
This solar system is built from previous matter that collected together.
Different matter "floated" in different areas and gravitated into the planets/sun.
Hhhydrogen - Helium - to eventually oxygen. But it took some kind of chemical reaction to get that water created.
Did that water already exist somehow in the solar system's creation or before?
Or is water actually dynamic, constantly created/destroyed... since we know
we can separate Hydrogen/oxygen from water, we use this for rocket fuel and energy for spacecraft, as fuel cells on the spacecraft take hydrogen and oxygen to create electricity and the result is water, drinkable...

funny how the planet is covered with liquid water, and its basically hydrogen and oxygen.

if you do your basic thinking of fossils and material layering... the earth itself gathers more material from space all the time in the form of dust, comet debris, etc. the matter sinks to the earth and layers, like and black hole could.
If you could ever visit a black hole, I'm sure the basic physics havent changed.

I keep hearing the arguements about time, time stopping...I dunno about this, time marches on no matter what. If we call motion stopping time stopping, like stopping an atom from spinning electrons, does that really stop time?

If you consider the big bang theory, the "Bangee" would be a massive black hole exploding. Any material in its path may well have gotten blown away.

which this thinking would say there was a universe before the big bang, which makes the steady state theory still plausible. But our telescopes try to find those tiny hints what happenned with the big bang. Perhaps we are blinded by our own sights as we can't see really what has happenned.

As far as black holes preserving information about what falls into them, well, you are what you eat...
