What I find funny is the folks that will buy tickets when the jackpot gets up to enormous sums, but not otherwise.

I mean, why play for just a few paltry million....LOL. The chance of winning does not change, and I'd be happy to win a little 15 million prize.

My recollection of the Bond series is a little different.
My father was design engineer at a factory that produced all kinds of special kit for Rank, particularly the Travelling Matte Printer for Denham Labs that had been used in thousands of movies including most of the Bonds (optical matte of course, no such thing as digital video in the 60s). In fact for the MKII Travelling Matte, I spent many hours wiring up its control console on the kitchen table, making and fitting cableforms to the dozens of little switches, lights and dials.

Also made were large numbers of front- and rear-projection setups for the Pinewood Studios Process Projection dept. for all the Bonds and loads of other stuff like the award-winning sequences in Barberella and 2001. Sometimes as a kid I'd be lucky enough to have a look around Pinewood to see some huge Bond set in The Tank, or see where Bond was skiing in The Tunnel.

Of course my life as a kid was a bit different, watching every epic movie I'd been trained to point at the screen and yell "Fuzzy BP!" or "Wobbly Painted Matte" rather than enjoy the action!

Its a pity all that kit has gone in the bin now, I put a lot of work into some of it. I even spent many many weeks on the kitchen table wiring up a very special high-precision and Very Secret projector for Farnborough TSR2 Project which probably went into a crusher.

You live in your country all your life, you pass by objects every day and never realise certain things about them!

All Brits know the Pelican Crossings, these are pedestrian controlled Zebra Crossings that are operated upon demand, rather than having fixed sequence traffic lights. You press a button on the yellow control box on the pole, and you get a "please wait" sign


But there was one type of crossing that had a flashing light, and one that had a pulsing light. Which was wot?

After I enabled V7 I could not even navigate any of my 3 browsers to Berkely university websites... much less the SETI@home. I had to format my drive and re-install windows because I even have a hunch about users in here now and their custom worms

Terrible, aint it. My AVG said there is some woodworm infection in the basement, so I'm even having to buy a new house.

So really, a Virus fell through a Wormhole in Space and recorded itself on a 360k floppy in the 1970s in a garage on a computer belonging to a couple of dropouts from Harvard who said "wow, we could make millions if we sold this rubbish"?

Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs never went to Harvard, but they did work out of a garage. Paul Allen and Bill Gates did drop out of Harvard but they worked out of Bill's parent's house.)


See thats the thing about the Schrödinger equation - you can never be quite sure who did what and when.

I've just got an alert from ET Antivirus 2013 telling me my system is infected. They only want fifty klaygaars for a twenty leeptoo licence, sounds like a bargain :)
