I couldn't even imagine how slow it would be in IE. I have disabled IE, So I would be able to find out. Gosh, and I thought it was slow with my DSL conection! Right now, I know I am going to eaither going to swicth to cable internet, or return my DSL modem, and stick with DSL, cause I don't think I can stand anymore 56k. I'll have updated team stats up shortly. |

How do I return results immediately?
(Message 45259)
Posted 10 Nov 2004 by Mixxster
Post: > Add -return_results_immediately to your shortcut command that starts boinc. my boinc entry in the start up folder looks like this: "C:Program FilesBOINCboinc_gui.exe" -min -return_results_imediately And it does everything I want it to, but what does -allow_remote_gui_rpc do? I have seen explinations of them, but I don't understand what they mean. Can anyone explain this to me? |

FIREFOX 1.0 Release ready for Download
(Message 44934)
Posted 9 Nov 2004 by Mixxster
Post: FireFox 1.0 has now been released! If anyone reading this post does not have Firefox yet, then I really recommend it. It Is a great web browser that many people are now switching to. No complicated setup is needed, if you can get to the Internet in Internet Explorer, then chances are that you can use Firefox. You do not need to sign up for anything and it's free! Firefox is very easy to install on Windows, Linux or Mac. It can import your settings and bookmarks from Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla. Firefox is safer, and more reliable than Internet Explorer. It's also much easier to use. Almost everyone who has tried this web browser loves it. Don’t you think it’s time you tried it? Post: Ok, I finaly got Linux. I could not configure mandrake to work on the internet, so I'm using fedora. I have no Idea how to install BOINC. I have downloaded the linux version, and extrated it till I got: boinc_4.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu then I clicked on it and an error poped up and said this: "There is no action associated with "boinc_4.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu". You can configure GNOME to associate applications with file types. Do you want to associate an application with this file type now?" So does anyone know what to do? |

Post: I Have chosen to make the move to Linux after many years of considering it. I'll probably get mandrake. Anyways, is the Linux BOINC much faster with the SETI WUs? Does anyone know? |
