1) Message boards : Number crunching : Boinc Manager Statistics (Message 164544)

Post:
I'm running BOINC Manager, version 4.45 with Seti@home and Einstein@home as my projects. I've not been able to get a handle on interpreting the data under the "Statistics" tab and was wondering if someone could explain that to me, or tell me where I could find the info that does explain it.
Also an observation: In previous versions of the BOINC Manager, under the "Disk" tab, besides giving the percentages of the disk space used by each project, there was a graphic (pie chart) that visually showed the % that each project used and some more info. Why was that discarded in BOINC Manager's new version (4.45)? I thought the chart was quite useful.

Has the Seti@home operation been close down for good now, and only Seti Boinc is in operation?

I'm running both Einstein and Seti@ home, with Einstein assigned 67% of resources and Seti 33%. Sometimes I receive the following message under the Messages Tab: "Using earliest-deadline-first because computer is overcommitted". While that message is sort of self explanatory, what exactly does that mean in operational terms? Until Seti began using the new scheduler, I never received such a message. Thanking you in advance for your response.

4) Message boards : Number crunching : Increase Work Units (Message 145987)

Post:
I'm running both Seti@home and Einstein@home. Presently, when one Seti@home work unit is running, one Einstein work unit is pre-empted, waiting to run. Also listed under them are one of each, ready to run when those are finished. How can I increase the units from each that are ready to run to 10(five of each). So that if either of the programs go down for a time, I have sufficient work for my machine until the programs are back up and running?

I'm trying to understand the graphs that are under the Statistics tab of the Boinc Manager. Is there anywhere I can get help in understanding what those graphs mean? Thanking you in advance.

Just what do those CPU Benchmarks run by the Seti program mean? And what constitutes good benchmarks? Is there a table where I can compare my benchmarks against others?

Post:
In the SETI App under the subject headings of Projects, Work, etc and their subheadings of Project, Name , CPU, Time, etc, is there a way to save the width of those columns and their content so that I don't have to set those up each time I reboot my computer. I'm always having to widen the column for these entries like Project's "Resource Share, etc. each time I reboot. I haven't seen any way to save and maintain what parameters I set. Please help. Thanking you in advance.

>No, I had only one Classic account, begun in 2002 (not 1999 as listed). When I joined Classic I had a dial-up account with Compuserve. I left Classic to join BOINC in 2004.When I joined BOINC I had gotten a broadband account with Verizon, and thus a new and different e-mail address. Following instructions posted here last week about transferring credits from Classic to BOINC even if the e-mail address you had at classic was no longer valid, I got an onscreen message saying there was already a BOINC account with my present e-mail address so nothing could be done. Of course the BOINC account the message was referring to was my present BOINC Account. Is there someone I can wriote to to help me resolve this.

>No, the e-mail addresses are not the same. When I first joined Seti Classic in 2002 (not 1999 as listed) I had a dial up account with Compuserve. After being with Classic about 2 years, I got a broadband account with Verizon. So now I had a different e-mail account and address. Then I joined Seti BOINC in 2004 with this new e-mail address, the old email account was now invalid. When the news was posted here last week I thought they were saying you could receive your credit from Classic even if that e-mail address was no longer valid. I followed all of their instructions listing my old account ID and indicating I wanted to transfer those credits to my present BOINC Account. But when I did all of that an onscreen message appeared saying there was already a BOINC account with my e-mail address. Of course there was. That was my present Boinc account. Is there anyone I can write to report this to and get it resolved.

After maintaining a Seti@home Classic account for 2 years, I left and began my Seti@home(BOINC) a few months ago. Two days ago I read where we could have the credits earned on our Classic Account added to our Boinc Seti Accounts. I followed all of the instructions for doing so, completing all information asked for, but when pushed the button after completing everything, I got an onscreen message it couldn't do this because a BOINC Seti account was already open with my present e-mail address. I had a different dial up e-mail address for the Classic Account. To whom can I write to solve this problem. Please help!!!!

You have set up the resources used by both apps to be a total of 150%. 50% of that total is 1/3(33%) and l00% of that total is 2/3(66%). That's how those resource numbers were figured.

I'm presently running the Seti@home BOINC screensaver program, but wish to also run the Folding@home BOINC screensaver program. Will the fact that I choose to run both of these programs in the screensaver mode matter? Will the screensaver of each work together and not cancel eachother out? Thanking you all in advance

I'm already running Seti@home Boinc using the BOINC client version 4.13 If I decide to join another BOINC project like "Predictor@home" or "Einstein@home", must I also download and install their BOINC client, as I already have BOINC 4.13 installed for Seti@home. Thought maybe it was possible to download their software without the BOINC client. Please advise.

Thanking you in advance:

You were right. With 4.08 I now see all of the User Info. I just didn't know what was happening until you informed me. Thanks again.

When viewing the graphic of the work unit being processed and analyzed, there appears no data under the "User Info" section. Name and Team have nothing after them even though I belong to a team, and .000 appears after Total Credit. Why is that. That information used to be present when viewing the work unit graphic before. All of this even though I am still receiving credit for work units finished and the cresidts are posted in the Team's folder and section. Can any one help me out in solving this oddity? 19) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Running of BOINC client. (Message 3244)

Post:
At BOINC's web site I indicated in reponse to one of the questions in Preferences that I wanted my BOINC client to "Run always". Also under the file menu of the BOINC client I had marked that I wanted BOINC to "Run always". Yet whenever I turn off my computer for the night and then start it up again the next morning or whenever I reboot my computer, the file menu of the BOINC client has changed to "Run based on preferences" option. Why does this do so automatically? How can I get the "Run always" option to stay thay way all of the time? It is the way I prefer my BOINC client to act. Please help!!
20) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Seti@home Classic credit (Message 2380)
Posted 26 Jun 2004 by Profile Walter A. Reed, III
Post:
When running Seti@home Classic I was accessing the Internet by dial-up connection, so my account ID was my dial-up e-mail address. However I now access the internet by broadband DSL. Therefore when I switched to BOINC a few days ago I registered using my new broadband DSL e-mail address. My question is how do I retain and bring over my completed Work Units (1,284) from Seti Classic to my new BOINC account? I would still like to have credit for my past accomplishments under Seti Classic.
