Since you seem to be an AMD user, check out our team @ http://amdusers.com we have teams for every boinc project and many that still do distributed computing without the boinc client. Here is our seti@home join page

Here is what he said

Wow -- this is very useful feedback for me!

Based on this discussion I think I will start planning workunits that are five to ten times longer than the current ones. This should allow most users to at least complete a workunit per day and get credit reasonably quickly.

In the long-term, perhaps we can make this a 'project preference' but for the moment it's not feasible: I need to keep things as simple as possible from an administrative point of view!

Cheers,
Bruce

WordWeaver,
While i admire your pragmatism for walking the grey area between science and religion, i dont appreciate you posting your gospel in threads where it had no relevance other than to start this conflict.

"Every good soldier knows that what applies on the home front may not necessarily apply on the battlefield. The rules of engagement differ from scenario to scenario. :) :)"

That is a direct quote from you. So would you act like this is not the homefront and let us enjoy our discussions without the gospel.

If I want gospel I will go to church. Last time I checked this is Seti@home
not gospel@home.

PoorBoy,
Dont want to give up my account, but if you really want to try it i will let you borrow my acct id, i could use the help lol

Since we are in alpha test, Bruce Allen said he was going to make the wu's about
5 to 10 times as large to cut down on the server load. Projected to happen in the next couple of weeks or so.

I am not an athiest myself, but i still agree with you about the zealots. And i did not join seti or any of the boinc projects to get sermons. And when they say you dont have to read it, that is bs. If i am following a thread and they post, i have to read the first line at least to see if it is related.

yes, that was a good movie. I think the most disturbing movie i have seen was when i was a teenager and Andy Warhols' Frankenstien in 3d came out. Saw that in the theater.

If you click on the work tab when boinc is open, you can look at your wu's and see
what version they are being crunched with.

16) Message boards : Number crunching : more power - less credit (Message 37726)

Post:
Here is a good example of more power less credit.

Validate state Valid
claimed credit 65.7445315097775
Granted credit 29.2232790411088

This is my Athlon64 vs. two linux machines. As I understand it
since the linux isnt optimized it claims less credit, so if a windows machine
has to validate against 2 linux boxes we come out the looser.
I would like someone to tell me i am wrong and explain why.
Thanks
