I got an e-mail from Wanadoo that is actually an
answer to my question! They are aware of the problem, tell me
it's the Cogent network that cannot be reached, and that they are
working on it......

For those of you who can read Dutch, the original:

Dirk, from 8 on the second trace route you present exactly matches the
trace route I get when I hook up my laptop to my neighbour's
wireless network (bbnet).

Thanks for the enlightening posts!

I tried several other PCs today. All Wanadoo customers
have the same problem. Trace route stops after the verio
server. PCs hooked up through other ISPs have no problem
(trace route is different for those).

I think Ian is right. These companies have an obligation
to maintain the connections. I'll put in my bit and push
Wanadoo here in the Netherlands a little. I hope all Dutch
crunchers who have this problem and have Wanadoo as their
ISP do the same. We'll make them listen!

Hi All,

I have this problem too, only for my PC's at home.
The ones at the office run fine. I first thought it
was a Wanadoo problem.
Of the people I asked, only one other Wanadoo customer
has the same problem.

After some basic tests (reinstalling etc). I hooked
up my laptop to a wireless network I can receive here
and could immediately send and receive WU's! Back to
Wanadoo, no show. Pinged the server. Wireless: OK.
Wanadoo, timed out.

The I looked here and did the tracert test. Wireless
OK. Via my own net it stops after: p16-2-0-0-r81.asbnva01.us.bb.verio.net
[129.250.2.131].

Hope this helps to find and solve the problem.
