8600 is supported by CUDA.
What you mean under "can't run SETI" It cant run CPU opt app, CUDA app or what ??

CPU core 2 Quad Q6600
Ram 3.25 GB
Vista Premium SP1
Geforce 8600 GTS
Boinc 6.5.0

Hi Guys, It's me who has the problem. Thanks for posting this Paul.
Until very recently i have had no problems and was running an optomized seti.
I attached to Seti Beta when I heard about Cuda and was amazed at how quick these were completed (approx 3.5 minutes). When Seti announced Cuda publicly on their main website i employed "no new tasks" until i was clear then detached from Seti then re-attached so as to start with a clean "bench" so to speak. I subsequently downloaded 80 cuda w/u's which all reported download errors.
Now Boinc reports "no new work for Seti Enhanced" and "no new work for Astropulse". I have since detached and re-attached but Boinc reports nothing?
No new tasks from Seti or Seti Beta.............

I even upgraded from Boinc 6.4.5 to 6.5.0 thinking this may cure the problem and even installed cuda driver ver 2.1 from ver 2.0 hoping this too would cure the problem.
Has anyone got any ideas?? Your help and advice is appreciated.
Paul.

Thanks for the continuing patience and encouraging sentiments since the science database server crashed over a week ago. Still waiting on the server replacement. I think we're all anxious for it to arrive already, but we originally expected it no earlier than late-in-the-day today.

We had the usual database backup outage, in case anybody noticed. Outside of the usual backup/compression of the BOINC database, I fixed the replica server, so that's back up and running again. I also rebooted our Network Appliance which has been complaining about "misconfigurations" as of late, but that didn't seem to help or hurt. We think a bad drive in the system is causing these errors. I then replaced a bad drive in the Snap Appliance so that's back to having two working hot spares (phew). Jeff, Eric, and I also cleaned up the lab. Entropy reigns supreme around here. The table which we sit around and eat lunch was full of miscellaneous screws, heat sinks, empty drive trays, shredded bubble wrap, etc. but not anymore.

- Matt

Now.....where is that all important screw I left on the table last night and the heatsink that requires re-installing?? OK, who's tidied up?

Copy and paste this link into your browsers address bar then scroll down to
boinc 4.07 windows, and click on this link.
You will see there is also 4.08 windows, and the latest 4.09 windows. I'm still with 4.07 as this is running fine with win me. You could try 4.09 but miss out 4.08 as I see some reports of problems with this version.
I hope this is of help.
Paul.

I love your sense of humour.A little more of this is needed to DEBUG the tensions out here ! Another Mug of tea would help as well.
I also sympathise with the comments previously made but surely we all have to bear with it and be patient. With a new and complicated project like this, there are bound to be problems. As someone has already said "It is pretty amazing stuff".
Patience is a virtue, as they say.
One thing I would ask of the developers is better communication via the homepage and why not offer 4.07 instead of 4.05.
I am running 4.07 on win ME with no problems, so surely this would be a better alternative for all pre xp users ??
Paul.

I assume that by now you have upgraded to 4.07.
I had a nightmare of a time with 4.06. It just would not run without
crashing the pc, so I stopped running Boinc until 4.07
came along. With Seti running on its own It runs as sweet as a nut.
Now I'm all out of wu's and twiddeling my thumbs.
Is there such a thing as Seti withdrawal symptons ????????

Hi, I'm running win me and just installed 4.07. Previous lock ups etc were cured and everything worked fine until I signed up to cp@h. Now after 2 to 3 hours it stops with a visual fortran run-time error ? Cp@h then starts from the beginning again. Occasionally the pc freezes completely requiring a reboot.
Is this a Boinc problem or cp@h problem ?
