It is my understanding that the credit given out is changed to achieve cross project parity. In other words, regardless if you crunch for Einstein or for Rosetta, you will get the same credit per (wall clock) hour. This way, no single project can give out ridiculous amounts of credit to attract all the credit junkies out there.

Junkies? .... Junkies? Bring on the new APP! Let's see what true Credit "Whores" will do with it!

Junkies... sigh :-)

To shed some light on this issue, I would like to explain the reason for the merging of my computers.

With 400+ computers to manage, I quite often visit the "View Computers" page to assure that a minimal number of computers are sitting idle or not reporting work units. Unfortunately, when I upgraded the boinc client to 5.8 on these machines, all 400 machines now had duplicate entries because of the long descriptions created by the new client. Now there was close to 900 entries on my page (at 3-4 lines each) totalling close to 3,500 lines of text. This needed to be fixed.

There is no good merge capability within the boinc html interface, so I did what any lazy computer admin would do. Bulk merging of identical computers to eliminate duplicates.

This was in no means a way to create a pseudo super computer. It is a mere attempt at sane time management. If you'll notice, the unit has already dropped to 1/2 of the original 11,000 RAC (hhhmmm....moving averages)... go figure.

I can also assure you that I make every effort to crunch as many WU as possible and that I have *no* interest in holding back WU's. That does not even make sense (to me). I am, afterall, a credit whore!

Hope this clarifies thing a bit.

Happy crunching!
