keep getting:
16/01/2020 3:34:17 pm | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
16/01/2020 3:34:17 pm | SETI@home | Reporting 1 completed tasks
16/01/2020 3:34:17 pm | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU
16/01/2020 3:34:19 pm | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
16/01/2020 3:34:19 pm | SETI@home | Project has no tasks available

there is over 1/2 a million tasks sitting there, just not getting any for my CPU. which runs dry about 3x faster than my GPU does

and the million odd tasks are now all gone. stuck waiting for new ones.

still had over 200 GPU tasks to process but was out of CPU tasks for about 5 hours. these newer multi core CPU's chew through a heap of WU compared to even a mid range GPU

Thanks for the replies

I just sucks that im wanting 10 days of work but am unable to fully get there.

Maybe some of this information could be more clearly displayed somewhere in the bonic client?

I have done a lot of reading on past posts on this topic but the last one with info was from early 2013, so im not sure if it is till valid or not

Here is the message from the log file:
29/06/2015 2:20:10 p.m. | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
29/06/2015 2:20:10 p.m. | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU
29/06/2015 2:20:13 p.m. | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
29/06/2015 2:20:13 p.m. | SETI@home | No tasks sent
29/06/2015 2:20:13 p.m. | SETI@home | No tasks are available for SETI@home Enhanced

29/06/2015 2:20:13 p.m. | SETI@home | This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress

And this is the computer in question: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7601615

Now my issue lies in i wish to have 10 days worth of work.
I have set the minimum work buffer to 10.0 and the maximum additional work buffer to .01 as described in another thread here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7451&nowrap=true#43374

But looking at other threads there is a maximum number of work units per CPU core and per GPU. This thread was from 2011 and had 50 per CPU and 400 per GPU.

Now this doesn't seem to hold true as i have 4 CPU cores processing and 2 NVIDIA Graphics cards. I have 100 tasks for the CPU and 200 for the GPU's, so that seems to be 25 per CPU and 100 per graphics card.

The thing is as i want 10 days worth of tasks (computer might be off the internet for a while) i seem to get enough CPU tasks to last most of the 10 days, but the GPUs will eat up their tasks in just over 2 days.

Whats the point in being able to set how much work you want to have it there are some "limits" posed on the CPU and GPU that arent displayed or explained anywhere?

i was under the impression from other threads that bonic learns how your CPU and GPU process tasks and gives out work based on that?

right ive solved the issue

i managed to log into the old account using the Account key which i somehow managed to keep somewhere, and found that my father had recently changed the email address of the account.

so it was just a miss communication in there

sorry for the hassle

i just have a quick question on this matter

ont of my PC's is only getting CUDA tasks and nothing for the CPU, why is this? no how do i get tasks for the CPU. its had no CPU tasks for about 3 weeks now.

Just installed your mod and now enjoy 10x increase of speed of computing. Thanks a lot %)

But it looks like now I still don't use all cores at 100% efficacy.

PC has 2 cores + GPU (8800).
I have AP and MB units running together. Judging by Task manager AP creates about 45-50% of CPU workload and MB (crunched mostly at GPU) - about 5-10%. So total CPU workload is about 60%. Are there any ways to utilize 100% by parallel computing of one more WU?

You need to read my first message completely.
Statement "7)"
7) For best CPU and GPU usage I recommend to set number of processors available for BOINC to real_number_of_cores+1. This will mitigate current BOINC bug with CPU+CUDA scheduling and will allow fully load CPU and GPU.
Did you make it?

i have tried this aswell (i didnt have a cc_config.xml file to start with) and i only have the CUDA application running, while the 2 cores of my CPU are sitting idle.

is there someone that can help me fix this? im not the best when it comes to programming/technical stuff

wait till u get proper work units, not these quick small units that have been given out lately. as they take 20 mins on most computers

my E6750 takes about 1h30-1h40 per work unit, and thats running 100% of the time with no overclock, im also using the SSSE3 client.

results like this (taken from ur list, is about what u should expect from a non overclocked CPU:

i have and it makes no difference i cant get anymore than about 20 work units at once. the thing is it works fine changing the cashe size on my desktop. i change it from 5/5 to 10/10 and it downloads heaps of units, yet my laptop doesnt get any

ill leave it and see what it does over the weekend

You're using numbers like 5 and 10, when I'm suggesting values below 1.

thats cuase i was talking about my desktop

like i said it hasnt made any difference having the cashe setting at .1/10 or .5/5 or anything like that i still only get about 20 units

% of time BOINC client is running 71.8875 %
While BOINC running, % of time work is allowed 99.9883 %
Average CPU efficiency 0.767899
Result duration correction factor 0.58026

the only reason why the top one is so low is because when im away with work and bonic finished all its units that are qued up i close it till i get back to an internet connection to upload them.

surely this shouldnt be causeing me to only download about 3 days worth of units when its set at 10/10

Assuming you have set the 10/10 preferences here on the Seti site in Your Account/General Preferences/location/Network Usage/, and they don't work, you need to check to see, on that computer if you have a global_prefs_override.xml file in the BOINC folder.
If so then in the manager use the Advanced Menu/Preferences/Network Usage tab and then set your requirements there.

As noted in previous posts, it doesn't like large connect intervals. You should also note that as the deadline for short units is eight days, once you get one of these, and there are quite a lot of them, if 'connect to network' is set over eight days then you will enter Earliest Deadline First (EDF) mode. EDF will stop all further downloads until these units are reported, as the BOINC manager will assume it is not going to contact Seti until the next 'connect to network' interval.

Andy

cheers for the reply

yes i have that file on my laptop, and it has exactally the same info in it as my desktop has, and the desktop has no problem getting work for a 20/10 ratio, yet the laptop wont go more than 5/10 before it wont get anymore work. and even then it only has 16 units downloaded. 16 units and a 15day cashe just doesnt quiet add up, especially when it takes about 3h to process each work unit

i have a simular problem:

in bonic 5.10.20, and running seti
i have set my additional work buffer to 10 day, and my connect every to 10 days. yet i only have about enough work for 2 days if that. every time i hit update it says not requesting new work

my Laptop is finishing work units in about 3h and currently only has 13 units downloaded and qued up. id like to get a few more units downloaded as i tend to go away with work and dont have an internet connection for a few weeks at a time

any help would be much apreciated

Try setting "connect every" to something alot smaller, like maybe 0.5.

BOINC gets nervous if you try to make it cache too much work.

i have no problems on my desktop getting new work when i set it to 10/10 just my laptop doesnt like it for some reason

ive set it to 5/10 and its got 3 new units but thats still no where near enough for 10 days
