Seti on a PII, Windows 98, 64MB RAM, not enough?

Post: Hello, just trying to hook up also an old W98 with 64MB RAM. Seti says: 25.02.2006 01:00:32|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 25.02.2006 01:00:32|SETI@home|Reason: To fetch work 25.02.2006 01:00:32|SETI@home|Requesting 17280 seconds of new work 25.02.2006 01:00:37|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 25.02.2006 01:00:37|SETI@home|Message from server: Your computer has only 66576384 bytes of memory; workunit requires 532480 more bytes 25.02.2006 01:00:37|SETI@home|Message from server: No work sent 25.02.2006 01:00:37|SETI@home|Message from server: (there was work but your computer doesn't have enough memory) However, Seti page says min requirements is 64MB, that's what I have. So I assume, I don't have enough memory? Can I get it to run without adding more memory? Does Einstein run on 64MB? Thanx for help, Ranier. |

fresh BOINC: but not getting a WU
(Message 242328)

Post: Well, select the WU and abort it. If you want to quit crunching CPDN, you have to set it to "no new work" (the button must show up "allow new work then") BEFORE you abort the WU. Then make a update of CPDN and you're done. Wow, Ripley, that's it. I'm blind, it says "deadline ...2007". On the CPDN I clicked 1) no new work 2) suspend and did not abort the WU, because immediately SETI started to download a WU and is now happily crunching away. Thank you very much! If I understood correctly, once Seti is done with its first WU, then it starts the round robin and will calculate on poth projects? Ranier. |

fresh BOINC: but not getting a WU

Post: I'm running also climateprediction which works like clockwork. Aha! It's the first time that it processes a WU of CP. And I don't think it will manage the deadline if I understand it correctly. Indicated deadline: Is this in hh:mm:ss? It says: 1492:08:12 time remaining. Deadline is in 4 days... I have only this one WU from CPDN. However, according to my preferences, CPDN-Seti is balanced 50:50 and should switch every 60 minutes? What shall I do? Delete the CPDN WU? How is this done w/o damaging things? Thanx for help. Rainier. |
