1) Message boards : Number crunching : Seti Enhanced Credit Fair? (Message 311374)

The big complaint is this:

Let's take my AMD A64 3000+ (FSB 240), 512M DDR400, FC4 machine as an example.

Under SETI BOINC, 42 minutes netted around 32 credits..
Under SETI Enhanced, 2 hours and 45 minutes net around.. any guesses? That's right.. 32 credits, plus or minus three credits.

Hi,

just that i can follow your arguments, can you please post a link to some sample results that prove this? I just found results like this

320116254 76859834 7 May 2006 23:03:31 UTC 12 May 2006 21:07:49 UTC Over Success Done 3,034.82 6.96 7.90

320116208 76859799 7 May 2006 23:03:31 UTC 12 May 2006 20:12:18 UTC Over Success Done 3,151.71 7.23 12.60

where neither you claimed 32 credits for 42 minutes nor got them granted.

But maybe i've just looked in the wrong place, so i just want to understand.

Thanks,
Femue

Seems to be a new way of highlighting WU's that errored out - at least with "Client Error", here is another from someone else.

Yup, this has been changed by the developers:

19 Feb 2006 - user web: show error results with pink background

Complete the following sentence:
YOU MUST CUT DOWN THE MIGHTIEST TREE IN THE FOREST WIIIIIITH ....

... THE HAIRIEST BEAVER!

And what would her name be attached to that? (-:

I guess that would be up to the beaver. :)

Personally I kinda like a little less hair. Let to get stuck in the teeth.

But wouldn't the beaver have wood stuck in its teeth?

Maybe the wood of a larch?

Hum, Client 4.45: as far as i remember STD is reset to zero, LTD is frozen like Metod said. Eventually LTD will shift a little bit because to a minor bug fixed in 4.7x (?).

Hi,

it is not a local problem with the client or computer, i had the problem in the moment the BURP database crashed a while ago. The message appeared after a result was sent successful, and wants to be reported, but the reporting failed because of the database problems. I mailed the log file to Paul (just in case he didn't have one already).

Well all my machines participate in Seti, Seti Beta, Climate, Protein, Einstein, LHC, LHC Beta and Sztaki. So it seems the concensus is to upgrade. Well, surely someone must have a negative view :)... Anyway, if I recall right I will need to move to a new version of Boincview. I am currently running 0.9.2d to manage everything. Keep the input coming...

Well ... i use Boincview 1.1.3 and it is stable and i like it a lot because of the different colors (since 1.1.2) that you can link with different result- and project-states ... but i have no farm, so i can't really give the best advice ;-)

Any quirks that one should know about before beginning this journey? Thanks for any input...

If you decide to move on, make sure you exit your old Boinc client completely (check in Task Manager or something similar to see everything quit its processes), then uninstall the old client ...

... and you may want to make a backup of your BOINC-Directory at this point to be absolutely sure nothing can go wrong. Then carry on with Ageless' advice.
