Post: Hi all, I've been running seti@home with optomized clients and the calibaration client for a while now and a lot of my crunchers cant get work - is this down to this version being stopped and the enhanced taking over? If so do I need to be running enhanced and how can it be setup. Can I still use the optomized clients? Thanks for help Ben |

Post: >> ive reinstalled seti and will see what happens << yep, this has sorted the problem out now, maybe I should have rma'd the RAM due to the extra voltage it requires just to run at stock speeds but at CL2 and not it's rated 2.5 which I find a bit bizare if it isn't faulty. thanks for your help, especially Babyface uk as I wouldn't have remembered changing the vdimm if it wasn't for your post. cheers, ben |

Post: >> ive reinstalled seti and will see what happens << I'll try the regular client if this one does one or two units and at least one is red. Right, I remember that I changed my vdimm to 2.7v from 2.9 just to run at the stock 200mhz a couple of days ago..i just tried super pi @ 2.7vdimm and it said 'not exact round' so obviously thats the problem. Now it's back at 2.9v it runs super pi and hopefully seti will behave. thanks again, ben |

Post: Hi all, Ive just noticed that my main cruncher has lots of results with no gained credit and are highlighted in red. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=1891951&offset=40 <-- here's the PC in question. Thanks very much for any help. Ben |

Intel or AMD ??
(Message 263522)

Post: Weren't the pentium m's based on the p3 core which is why they're much faster than a p4 clock per clock. If only there was a way back then intel could have extended the clock speed of the p3 to over 1300MHz there wouldn't have been a way amd could have competed clock per clock. Not forgetting the tualitins that are probably 20% faster than the coppermines clock per clock. Just a shame that the structure of the p4 meant to mislead buyers buying the clock speed and not the performance. Ive got a dual 866 p3 that has a higher rac than an xp2700 amd (330/312 RAC)so 1700mhz of p3 beats 2170mhz of amd. It's strange that a design from 1999 can beat amd chip designed in 2001 yet the latest amd will beat intel in all now except seti. |

Upload and download failing
(Message 247547)
Posted 13 Feb 2006 by Ben Rogers
Post: Just when I have been getting up my own very minor head of steam, SETI refuses to either download or upload. Why does this keep happening periodically - and without any sort of technical info being posted? I currently have two results that are not going up and one new set of work not coming down. This is no big deal for such a minor participant but it is still very frustrating. It is indeed frustrating, I seem to have this problem every few days at the moment. I've got units left to process but not being able to upload work means that other people get delayed credit at the least...and the sever status page says the upload/download server is online? |

Post: Hi there, Thanks for the reply. That file was set correctly and I changed the Seti@Home bit. Will take a while for that to crunch 30 units. I did have it crunching in 5 hours or so which was ok but then it went to 7 hours or more. Thanks, Ben |

Post: Hi there, I have a P3-450 oc'd to 112FSB and it has weird credit that I think should be better. Is it right that with the calibration the work gets 10 credit for 10k seconds of CPU time? also, is it right that some days I can get no credit and lots of pending? Here is the PC Thanks for any help, Ben |

Post: Your recent credit seems okay if you're using the default boinc app. Have you tried an optomized client such as Crunch3r's? Maybe that Pentium-M isn't on 24/7? |

Post: but it tries to upload more than the size of the file (like it goes to 106%) lol, very strange. Im finding that units that are not complete, when completed are able to be reported (at least from 2 pc's i`ve checked) so it may be a problem with units completed before a certain time. But, all units that are ready to send back from earlier on can't be reported. The slow uploads I was on about actually never made it...they just halted. |

Post: My PC's show 'uploading' where they should show 'ready to report' even though they're not even trying to upload - when I press 'update' the client reports that there is no work to report when there are at least 5 units on each pc to send :S Thanks. That started to send very slowly 0.14KB/s and seems to have stopped at 0.28KB sent. THat's just one out of 7 on this pc that actually tried to report. The rest say retry in x minutes. edit - I can upload (occasionally) but it tries to upload more than the size of the file (like it goes to 106%) lol, very strange. |
