The app_info.xml is built in sections for each App, starting with <app> and ending with </app_version>. To use more Apps, you just add that App section to your app_info. Of course, you have to provide the files listed in the app_info. I would suggest downloading the packages that contains the ATI App r3610 & the SSSE3 CPU App. Then move the SSSE3 CPU App to the package with the ATI App and Modify the app_info.xml to include the SSSE3 CPU App instead of the AVX CPU App. You should Remove the section with the AstroPulse SSE41 CPU App as that machine doesn't have SSE41. The result would look similar to the above and you will have all the needed files listed in the app_info.xml.

Try that.

First, I did try the AVX initially and it wouldn't even download tasks. Not sure why. So, I tried the AVX2 and that's when it reported all my existing tasks as computation errors and wouldn't download anything new. But I retried AVX and it appears to be working now. Thank you.

Second, I also modified the app_info.xml file and got that working with the GPU on the Mac Pro. I'm sorry I didn't follow your advice correctly the first time around. That's not normal behavior for me. I have a 2yr9mo old toddler, a 6day old newborn, a wife, and a dog. When everyone was momentarily quiet, I sat down to try our your suggestions. That last about 30 seconds before I had a screaming toddler, and crying newborn, and barking dog, and a frustrated wife. All in the same room as me! Even my ability to tune things out couldn't tune out all of that!

Thank you for being patient with me and helping me.

Your other machines have AVX, and it would be best to run the AVX CPU App. The Intel iGPU is Hopeless as it slows down your CPU by Half, meaning it would be best to just Not use the Intel iGPU and just run the AVX CPU App instead. There was an attempt to fix the problem with the Intel iGPU, but that attempt seems to have fizzled out and it's best to just Not use it.

TBar, I tried AVX and AVX2 on my Mini.Server (Mac Mini 6,2). It just spat out computation errors then Seti@Home wouldn't send any new work units to it because the app_info.xml file didn't contain a valid version of Seti@home v8. So, I just reset it back to BOINC defaults and disabled GPU processing. Waiting to see what the averages are after a few days.

I'm currently running the GPU App r3610 with the SSSE3 CPU App on the Mac Pro like you recommended. Now, nothing is being done by the GPU. That may be for the better? I'm not sure yet...

They have said that a new model is being developed, but won't say when it's likely to be ready, other than to say "Not this year."
New Mac Pro?

Grant, I saw that yesterday on Macrumors.com. Unfortunately, that doesn't do me a lot of good right now. Around January, I'll need a powerful, up-to-date, machine again. If Apple is saying not in 2017, I seriously doubt they mean, "We'll have it in January 2018." *sigh*
[quoteOK, I thought that looked a bit weird. As far as I know, the Mac Pros with the older SSSE3 CPUs aren't supposed to work with an OS higher than Darwin 11.4.2, http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-3.0-specs.html
That might be why the GPU App built for a machine that can run Darwin 13.4 is having problems on that machine. I'm not sure if the GPU App r3610 would work any better, but it might.
You are correct. My Mac Pro 1,1 should not be running this OS. When Apple planned the obsolescence of this machine, I kept it going by replacing the BootEFI with the 64-bit file allowing me to upgrade to MacOS 10.8 then later to 10.9. I was trying to squeeze a few more years out of what was otherwise a fine machine. However, installing updates became too cumbersome to continue. I had to install each update fresh, which simply took too much effort.

Right now, I'm crossing my fingers that Apple will release a new Mac Pro with updated hardware. I just can't bring myself to buy old hardware from 2013 and pay the same price as if I was purchasing state-of-the-art hardware.

I'm still using this Mac Pro for my photos and videos as it performs well enough for those tasks. But it no longer works seamlessly with the rest of my Macs.

I'll look into your advice when I have a little more time. Right now, I have a newborn that arrived on 1 April. Yep, an April Fools baby.

Revisiting this simply because for some unknown reason, my recent average credit has jumped by more than 30% and seems to be holding there.
See: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8135422
Makes my power usage quite a bit more efficient.

Just an update for anyone interested. I installed the CPU fan. But the numbers aren't adding up.
It's 5V and the sticker on it says it draws 0.1A. That should mean the fan consumes 0.5w. But the meter is now reading 6.6W. An increase of 0.9W. Also meaning this tiny little CPU fan the size of my thumbnail is increasing the power load by 16%! That's ridiculous.

If you have the time that would be great.

I'm at work right now. But when I get home, I'll power it down, move it to a power meter, restart everything, and let it run for a few hours. Once power consumption stabilizes at a constant running temperature, I'll post an average reading from the meter. It will be just the Pine A64+ It will not have any loads from fans on it. The fan will be on a separate circuit.

Ok. I let it run overnight and it is now pulling down 5.7 Watts according to the meter. https://flic.kr/p/QNCWq2

Glad to see this sparked some conversation. If anyone has anything they want me to check on this setup for them, please let me know.

I can even put it on a power meter with or without the table fan if anyone really wants to know exact energy consumption data.

In case anyone is curious, here is a https://www.pine64.org/ running SETI@Home 24/7 for the past couple of months:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8135422

I did not overclock it. However, I did put heatsinks on it and a tabletop fan circulating air across it. Otherwise, it's just sitting at room temperature. Which right now in Khon Kaen, Thailand is about 28C during the day and 25C at night.

I think the server might be having a problem. I have a bunch of tasks trying to upload but can't reach the server. It's late here in Thailand. I'll look again in the morning and see what happened overnight.

Good luck!
