If we add on or build a room detached from the house, I may get some back. And yes, it is dead quite in the room now and cold compared to what it was. I had 15 computers in there and now nothing. But our child will be raised in the ways of the tech. I do live close to a college so I'll give craigslist a chance first.

V1.0 and V5.0. Let me clear up a few things. When the old computer died, here is what I brought over to the new system: RAM, graphics cards, DVD Drive, and HDD drive. So what I bought new is a MB, PSU, and 2 CPU's. The only that is different now is it does power on the DVD drives. I've tried different monitors, graphics crads, memory from a working machine so I have no clue. I have the 4 pin connector plugged in, no front USB plugged in. Anyone have anything else?

I got another video card and still nothing. I had someone suggest what I'm using for this computer so here it is: ECS 848P-A7 LGA 775 Intel 848P ATX Intel Motherboard* Intel Pentium E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor* 2 - DDR 400 1GB sticks of RAM Raidmax RX-450K 450 Watt Power Supply* nVidia GeForce FC 5500 256MB *New parts Since HDD and other drives don't matter, I didn't list them but they came with the computer as well. I don't have a speaker I can use for beep codes. I really didn't want to build a new computer, thought I could salvage this one but that's my luck.

The only things to hook up are power button, reset button, hdd light, 2 front USB ports, and front case light.

17) Message boards : Number crunching : Need Computer repair help (Message 697527) Posted 5 Jan 2008 by ThePhantom86 Post: I will admit that I didn't have speakers plugged in when I tried to boot, so I tried that and it's the same, powers on but nothing on the screen. The power supply is 450w, the old one was 400w. Let me see if I can sum it up better; With only the PSU, CPU, MB, RAM, and video; Old board and CPU with on board video: Powers on CPU but displays nothing on the screen. Same result with or without RAM and no beeps either way. New board and new CPU with graphics card: Powers on CPU but displays nothing on the screen. Same result with or without RAM and no beeps either way. I did try RAM from another machine which works in that machine. Same result so I'll try a different video card and see where that gets me.

I tried the bare minimal (Power, CPU, RAM, Video card) with the same result. As to your edit, I removed the PSU before I placed the MB in the case. My brother has a video card so I'll give that one a try and take it from there. Thanks to everyone so far and if I have more problems, I'll post 'em.
