I've reinstalled BOINC and Lunatics v0.41 several times with no change. Seti still shows 2 V7 tasks allowed per day with 1 consecutive completed WU and 0 tasks today. 29 V6 tasks allowed with 0 today. The last error task was 9/18 so I thought I would start getting some downloads. I started running some Einstein@home tasks with no problem. This laptop was running Seti for several years with no problem until suddenly something happened.

Thanx, that explains it. Looking back through yesterday when I reinstalled, I can't see ANY WU's downloaded/uploaded. I'll see if any show up tomorrow.

I'm running BOINC Seti on 4 computers & something hicupped on my Lenovo Thinpad with 2-core Intel cpu the other day. BOINC gave messages about missing files and gave timeout errors on all my WU's. I uninstalled/reinstalled 7.0.64 and Lunatics 0.41 several times but now keep getting the message NO WORK AVAILABLE for several days. My other 3 systems have been getting WU's with no problem.

I'm now down to 1500 tasks but out of CUDA work. Is there any way to download only CUDA WU's and no CPU units?

Website project preferences - turn off "use cpu". This only affects work fetch, not the tasks you have on hand. That pref will pass to BOINC and BOINC won't ask for cpu work. This will affect all your machines unless you are already using location codes and separate preferences. If you want to only do it for one, you'll need to establish a separate set of project prefs (home, school or work), and then designate that computer's location on that computer's details page.

Looks like you've added a gpu today. I like my 670, happy crunching!

I've been turning off CPU in the preferences to stop the downloads, turning it on only long enough to get some WU's for my other machines.
Is there any way to copy WU's to a different computer so I could transfer most of them to my machine running 12 cpu's which is currently without a GPU until I receive a replacement 670?

I have 2 EVGA 480's both purchased used on eBay. They were installed in 2 different computers, one running Win7 32-bit and the other Win7-64-bit. They both fail in 3 different computers, one doesn't even run the fan. I replaced the one in the 64-bit machine with a MSI 570 card, which has been running close to a year. The MSI 670 configured OK and ran for 5 hours. I thought the computer had powered down because I lost remote console communication via Logmein and found it had a power LED but nothing on the monitor. I rebooted and got no display. I added a second old video card to get a display and booted Win7. The Device Manager showed only the old card and not the 670. I tried the 670 in third Win7 64-bit machine and got nothing. It's already on its way back to NewEgg for replacement. At $15 unreimbursed return shipping, I hope the next one works better. I have found, in the past, I had to clear the bios before the POST would recognize the card.

The MSI GTX-670 ran about 5 hours before crapping out. It failed just like the 480 - not recognized. I'm now paying $15 to ship it back for a replacement. I hope the replacement lasts longer. I'm glad I didn't remove the UPC for the rebate yet. NewEgg requires all UPC's to be present for an RMA.

Thanks for the info. Yes I got the 670 to replace an EVGA GTX-480 that failed last week. Computer failed to recognize it, like it wasn't there - no display. Second EVGA GTX-480 that failed with same symptom. I replaced the first one with MSI GTX-570. I bought both 480's used on eBay so no warranty. I won't make that mistake again. 670 was about $30 more new from NewEgg but now I have a warranty.

I still have about 2200 tasks with many due tomorrow (5-21-13). I set it to NO NEW TASKS until it tapers off. The downloads have always been strange with the 2 GTX GPU machines. For a week at a time one would receive mainly CPU tasks and no GU and the other machine would receive all GPU tasks.

I have one rig with an Intel 970 running 12 cpu's with a GTX 480 GPU.(currently dead, awaiting a new one). It normally downloads WU's so it has 100-150 ready to run. I have my preferences set for a 10-day supply. My second rig has an AMD 4-core cpu with a GTX 570 GPU. The downloaded WU's ready to run reached over 3000 at one point. Now I am getting errors from WU's failing to start by deadline. What would cause this?

Thanx, Bob B.

I goofed. The BOINC files on my D drive were not the ones being used. BOINC had actually installed more recently on the C drive so I was switching between 2 different installations. This time I copied the entire BOINC folder from the boot drive to the original C drive before removing it. I then booted the original C and BOINC resumed with no problems. My bad.

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to prevent this other than not letting BOINC run on the cloned drive? I had to reinstall the cloned drive to correct a MBR problem and BOINC is currently running on it after booting it. It now shows 2800+ abandoned WU's. I don't see any new CPU assignments - it's still showing only my original four.

My second computer is running Seti on an AMD 950 4-core with GTX-570 video card. I have BOINC installed solely on my D drive. I have been playing around installing a copy of my Windows 7 drive on a spare drive to be installed in another computer. While allowing the computer to boot from the newly copied drive, BOINC started running and apparently caused 1800+ WU's to be ABANDONED. Why did this affect BOINC when the program and data are on a different drive?

I have no complaints for a change. Since the server relocation the WU's have been flowing in and downloads/uploads are not hanging or bogging down but proceeding at a fast rate.

I am just wondering why the download bandwidth seems so narrow. My network should be able to download a 366k work unit in 1 second but it takes days sometimes. If you have answered this question elsewhere I apologize for asking again but I support 12 different projects and it is hard to read all the message boards.
Best Regards,
Mark W. Patton

LOL....
It's not that the download bandwidth is narrow, it's just that it's clobbered all of the time....
Here is the bandwidth usage graph of Seti...
The green is downloads. Getting a piece of it is very difficult sometimes.

You should visit our Number Crunching forum, and in particular the Windows TCP thread for a comms mod that might help your downloading woes.

I tried the TCP mod but it didn't help me at all. My GTX-480 has NO WU's and 12 stuck downloading for hours. The GTX-570 has NO GPU WU's and has a dozen or so stuck in download. OTOH my 2-core laptop has plenty of work as does my old AMD 2-core bare motherboard plugged into a power supply.

My question is how do some of the powerhouse computers, such as one with 8 GTX-690 video cards keep busy. Do they get special treatment? I have 2 slow ones and 1 with GTX-480 and 1 with GTX-570. For many weeks now either one or the other of these two have had no WU's. It seems to alternate. Right now one has only GPU WU's and for several days the other had only CPU WU's. At one time my RAC was up to almost 50k but is now just starting to go back up from 18k The 2 slow machines rarely have a problem getting WU's. I've been crunching 13 years but am considering calling it quits.

I upgraded to 7.0.24 a few days ago. I don't know if it's related but I now keep getting messages LOST TASK and ERROR ALREADY HAVE TASK. This seems to be happening only on my CUDA machines. Am I losing credit for all these WU's. Also uploading seems to handle only a limited number of WU's and takes several uplaods.

My gripe is no WU's. I enabled Astropulse 505 and V6 on 3 of my 4 machines. My GTX580 with 12 cpu's has 1 WU stuck in download and is not receiving any. My GTX570 machine has 2 completed WU's and 1 stuck in download. I have some Einstein WU's filling in time on it. My 2 slower machines have been getting all the WU's they can handle. It's been like this for a week at least.

My Intel 970 machine with GTX480 has been running for weeks now with little or no WU's. Hardly any CPU WU's have been downloaded. Currently I have 7 GPU WU's ready to run and I get a message "Not requesting new tasks" when I connect. My AMD amchine with a GTX570 is doing a little better and has been downloading enough WU's to keep busy. My RAC is down from a one-time 50k to 16k now and I've slipped from No.1 in my group. My slower laptop and AMD 4400X2 are chunking along with all the work they can handle. What gives?????
