Post: I think the option should be there too. But, I guess I have to reinstall it then to make it the easiest way. A shortcut doesn't quite do it the way I want it to. E.g. I don't want the window to open up to anyone else who starts it up! ;) |

Post: Hi. Either I'm blind or it's just not avaliable anywhere. On one of my computers I set Boinc NOT to start when windows booted up during installation. Now I want to change that. It's not on all the time and sometimes another person uses that computer when I'm not at work so I want it to run even if I'm not around. However, I can't find any setting for this in Boinc at all. I don't know if I'm blind or what. Do I need to edit the configuration file manually or is there some setting in the preferences that I keep missing? |

Post: Strangely enough I've been getting WU's to one of my machines so it hasn't had one second without something to do. At the same time my other one hasn't recieved anything at all. I guess it's just a matter of good timing for one and bad for the other! |

Post: Hitting retry doesn't work for me any longer either. This is extremely annoying. Increased the work buffer and watched how it tried by itself. Two of the wu's got past the 21 seconds but didn't start to recieve anything until after 2 min 30 secs. There might be a problem with BOINC but to me this suggests an issue on the server side as well, it shouldn't take this long to send them out, should it? |

Post: Hitting retry doesn't seem to work for me any longer either. I think the problem is on the server side though, it shouldn't take a minute for it to respond to a download request. I just wish there was a setting in boinc to increase the 21 seconds, then it would have been solved. |

Post: i there any working solution? It's a known problem as seen in this thread Just hit retry and it will eventually download the WU's. Not a good solution but it works until they've tracked it down. |

Post: I just managed to get 4 WU's downloaded. I manually hit "Retry now" (don't know for sure what it says in the english version, it's in swedish on mine) a few times until every WU was downloaded. If the client tried less then half a minute it didn't work, if it tried for about 45 secs or more it did. Try and see if you all notice the same thing. |

Post: I've managed to get those 4 WU's I had in queue downloaded. I manually hit "Retry now" a few times with each one of them until they got downloaded. I did notice one thing... whenever it tried for up to half a minute it failed and it went back to countdown for the next try... if it did try for about 45 secs or more the download commenced and finished. So to me it seems that the client just doesn't try long enough to get the WU's downloaded. |

Post: If your system's completely idle, you can always connect to another project to get some work. Seti has stated that they will not always have work available. But why is it trying to download work without succeeding? |

Post: I'm getting "system connect" problems on one of my computer and have had that problem on it now for almost 24 hours. My other comp seem to be getting wu's. It worked perfectly for 4-5 days before and I've tried everything I can to fix it with no luck. 2007-09-01 11:34:40|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file 11mr07ab.20441.5798.13.5.134 2007-09-01 11:35:02||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 2007-09-01 11:35:02|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of 11mr07ab.20441.5798.13.5.134: system connect 2007-09-01 11:35:02|SETI@home|Backing off 1 hr 53 min 58 sec on download of file 11mr07ab.20441.5798.13.5.134 2007-09-01 11:35:03||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. There's right now 4 WU's in queue to be downloaded but nothing happens. Have asked in Q&A but no real help there. If there's a short delay I have no problem with it but it's now been, as I said, almost 24 hours. |

Post: I'm not getting any new work as of a few hours back. It's been a smooth problemfree few days but suddenly this afternoon I haven't gotten any at all. Something up with the servers? The work that was finished has been uploaded and reported, I'm just not getting any new WU's. |

Post: I updated BOINC to the latest stable two days ago and yesterday I removed the third party executable I had been running earlier to be able to get the new multibeam wu's. Was a bit tricky to get it working at first until I reset the project but after I had done that everything seemed fine until this error occurred this morning. On my second computer at home it's been running perfectly. Though, on that one I've never fiddled with any third party executables so my guess is that the problem has something to do with that. It seems to work right now though but I'll keep an eye on it. |

Post: If I delete the KWSN exe, pdb and app_info.xml this happens, BOINC tries to download the following file. KWSN_2.4_SSE2-AMD_MB.exe I must be doing something wrong and there must still be some reference to it somewhere. Trying to do so also aborts the wu's in process... I got the url for the default file, if it's now the correct one since I have an AMD cpu "setiathome_5.27_windows_intelx86.exe" but putting that in the folder doesn't help.... Help! |

Post: That's the thing, I don't quite know how to get the new default app. I've tried to delete the third party executable I've been using as well as the "app_info.xml" file but I still didn't recieve it. Don't know what to do to fix this. IS there anywhere I can manually download the default app? I can't find it. |
