Yea, Boinc Individual Installs are explained here
sudo apt-get install boinc-manager
should fix it - I think.

Regarding Pi 1 ... sudo apt-get install boinc ... that caught my eye before.
I seem to recall using that install method it is something like:
sudo apt-get install boinc boincmgr
I don't think you have a Manager on that computer.
I will see if I can find more on that ...

Pi 3, no Desktop sharing? As I read you ...
Did you enable it?
From the Pi Menu, search for Desktop Sharing
And make sure it is turned on :)

Pi 2 and 3, as Keith said, <allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc> ... for all.
EDIT: And Restart BOINC.

is for BOINC Manager Remote RDC, not remote desktop ... not the same. Also used for programs like BoincTasks.
I want to do this through BOINC Manager in RDC. I can do it with my other 2 Pis which were attached to SETI differently then with my first Pi.
How are they different? Different networking? IF they are on a different sub net (192.168.x.x) that would be an issue.

It's a bit confusing on this end when you are talking about 3 different computers at once, each with different issues.

For remote client connections you will want this in cc_config.
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
Along with:
gui_rpc_auth.cfg
remote_hosts.cfg

The arrow on the file means the file 'lives' in a different location. A Shortcut in Windows, a symbolic link in Unix.
So /etc/boinc-client is where the file is.

Try ... sudo gedit /etc/boinc-client/remote_hosts.cfg
I'm not sure if gedit is the Pi text editor though ...

There is always the Repository work around to edit files ... for a short time until BOINC locks it's privileges again.
sudo chmod -R 0777 /var/lib/boinc-client ... might need /* on that.
That makes all the files 'world' writable/editable to everyone :)

If you are using the Repository version of BOINC, it will NOT restart since it is started as a service on boot up. /etc/init.d/boinc-client
Closing the Manager Window will stop it, but it won't restart by opening it.

To get it to start again after a shutdown ... sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client <start/stop/restart>

For Seti ir doesn't matter much, but for other projects the 1700X/1800X have more PCI lanes than the Gen2 CPUs - I forget what the 1700/1800 non X have.
Maybe something to consider there for multi GPU.

I have IE11 on Win 8.1 and EVERY thread with large images I get the scrollbar making the posts damn near unreadable for long line messages.

I'm not now, LOL, it's out on a RMA. But it ran 1080/1070.1060/1060 for almost a year, until it failed to power up after a reboot.
And I just got it working well with a new CPU and monoblock, dang it!
It was kicking Keith's 2700X fleet for awhile until then.

EDIT: Opps forgot the model ... GA-AX370-GAMING K7

I had 5 running on my GigaByte board for awhile, But the last riser was touchy and would drop off line, so I removed it for stability.

Yep, it all depends on RAM & CPU speed & timings.
It is my understanding that your B450 board will out perform a B350 board when fitted with the newer CPUs.
But I don't know what board you are comparing to ...

Pretty close there Ian.
I have a pair of sauced 1050Tis running 63.5k on dual LGA1366 X5880s which should be around the 10-13k mark for them.
So 25k each is pretty close.

I'm glad you found the answer to the heating issue.

At least now you know you can change to 4150MHz easily :)
Your smallish 120mm cooler might be able to handle it with 2 fans in a push-pull configuration. Just get a High Static Pressure fan for the 'push'
It would be a cheap upgrade.

Also remember that the seti apps are not multithread apps, they are 26 individual apps running that each require lots of memory access.
That CPU would have been happy to run a bunch of other apps at the same time not requiring much RAM access.

There are a few reason why the app wouldn't make it to main as-is, but I don't believe validation is one of them.
No screensaver
Checkpoint problem on restarts
Doesn't read from command line file
So it's not really an app for novice users to get without knowing the issues.

Ultimately Eric and the team have the say as to accept the validity of the results. All the have to do is search for Petri's name in the results file and flag it as invalid if they want the app to go away.

EDIT: From memory ... The CUDA6 app (I believe) was run quit a bit at beta for a couple of weeks while testing validation against SoG apps. Which I believe resulted in the latest SoG updates. That's from my memory, which at times is also corrupt :P

EDIT2: Petri does post the source code when he makes a release, unlike the recompiled versions. If you need a copy of his latest posted release give me a shout.

I just checked my only UB18 box with v4.2.44 which I recall having problems with getting/finding libcurl4 and I see libcurl is not even listed as a dependency now, I wonder if that PNG install fixed that?? I forget now.

Looking at Hals Thread it appears he found some solder on UBS connectors to adapt to his 5V power supply. My searching wasn't a success, but did find a bunch of 12V to 5V UBS adaptors for automotive hard wiring ... would need a 12V supply, and not as neat.
