Congrats again Vic.

Anyhow I'm just taking a cool down break as the temp hits a muggy 21C, but I did get the watering done, the last compost bay lined with cardboard and uncovered 20m of concrete edges manually which already has me with over half a wheelbarrow load of grass for the current compost bay to enjoy (and my back could do with a rest as well).

Cheers.

I think that I'll wait a little longer before I go outside just yet as after a 12C (felt like 10C) start here it's only just hit 15C with 29C being expected today.

My plan for this morning, after watering the veggies, is to rediscover some concrete edges around the backyard, seeing as the ground should be dry enough now for the edger to work properly, as I don't really feel up to swinging a line trimmer or pushing a mower around just yet, though my spine is working a lot better today.

Anyhow I'll get another coffee in before heading out.

Cheers.

It seems that we were among 32 countries that bucked the trend.

Global life expectancy fell by 1.6 years during the COVID-19 pandemic but Australia bucked the trend, study finds.

And to think if SloMo had acted 3-4 weeks earlier, like he was asked too, we could've done even better.

If you go to the linked article and download the PDF be prepared to rotate the pages back and forth at times, but I did find a curiosity with the map on page 24 (boy did the U.S. really buck the trend for a high SDI country).

Well that didn't work.

Space One’s private rocket carrying satellite explodes seconds after launch.

A rocket has exploded seconds after its $7 million launch in a spectacular failure for the start-up company who made it and planned to put a satellite into orbit.

Tokyo-based Space One’s 18-meter Kairos rocket blasted off from the company’s own launch pad in western Japan, carrying a small government test satellite.

But seconds later, the solid-fuel rocket erupted into balls of flame, sending smoke billowing into the remote mountainous area, live footage showed......

The heads continue to roll at PwC as business declines. Could that be due to a lack of trust?

Hundreds of PwC Australia staff have lost their jobs as part of widespread cuts made within the firm.

PwC Australia staff have been told 366 jobs will be axed as part of widespread cuts announced within the firm on Wednesday.

The firm’s 7200-strong staff were informed at midday on Wednesday that 329 staff and up to 37 partners were losing their jobs major restructure.

All staff who will be included in the cuts will be informed within the coming days about their future with the company.

Anyone affected may be invited to apply for new roles created by the changes in the business structure, PwC said.

The affected partners will be bring forward their retirements over the next nine months to assist the business.

The restructure is reportedly to ensure the business model is simplified in the wake of a controversial year in business.

PwC’s tax practice was discovered to have misused confidential government briefings to assist clients bend the impending tax laws.

“This has been a very challenging and complex process, but an important one, as we realign our business structure with our new long-term strategy,”

PwC Australia CEO Kevin Burrowes said in a statement........

What it really boils down to is American corporate and stock market driven greed that seems to be effecting almost everything everywhere else these days.

Why should a 10% year on year profit be the benchmark when a 4-5% is more than enough to exist on? You won't get either through a standard bank savings account these days and that's for sure.

And some economists would really like to see that benchmark figure cut to an even more realistic like 3-4%.

Save a buck here to make at least 10 now and we'll worry about the consequences later seems to be the motto these days.

After 8hrs with an hour of that out in the sun cutting and grinding pieces of 3/16" plate into what I need I;m ready for a few beers, once I hobble up the pub, and I might even have a feed while I'm there.

It's now 20C (feels like 18C) here, but it felt more like 30C on the concrete in front of the shed.

P.S. I did get the veggies watered just before I started cutting away.

Cheers.

With all the icebreakers around these days are we only making matters worse by breaking up all this sea ice?

US Coast Guard using Hobart as a home port mentioned as 'emerging prospect' in Tasmanian government document.

After all we do need that ice to reflect heat away from the planet so do we really need more of them?

Are you sure that being sent to the boondocks isn't some sort of punishment Martin?

Well I just had a look outside and even Dog doesn't want to get out on that long wet grass as yet so I'll give it another hour before I go out traipsing around on it so I guess that I'll get into my metalworking gear and start setting up on the concrete at the front of the shed instead of watering veggies first.

Cheers.

A bit of chemical castration wouldn't go astray with this pair.

Court approves UK's extradition request of online influencer Andrew Tate and his brother.

A Romanian court has approved a British request to extradite internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother, but only after local legal proceedings have finished.

The pair are under house arrest in the town of Voluntari, near Bucharest, where they are awaiting a separate criminal trial on allegations rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

Andrew, 37, and his brother Tristan, were detained on Monday after UK police obtained an international arrest warrant from Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The pair's spokesperson, Mateea Petrescu, said they had been accused of sex offences in Britain dating between 2012 and 2015.

They fronted the Bucharest Court of Appeal on Tuesday, where a judge ruled they should be extradited, but only after their case against them in Romania had been finalised.

The judge also ruled the siblings should be released from custody......
But will they do a runner?

It's finally on its way, but it's still only a drop in the ocean to what is needed.

First ship with humanitarian aid for Gaza departs Cyprus amid war.

A ship taking almost 200 tonnes of food to Gaza left a port in Cyprus early on Tuesday in a pilot project to open a new sea route for aid to a population on the brink of famine.

The charity ship Open Arms was seen sailing out of Larnaca port in Cyprus, towing a barge containing flour, rice and protein.

The journey to Gaza takes about 15 hours but a heavy tow barge could make the trip considerably longer, possibly up to two days.

Cyprus is just over 322 kilometres north-west of Gaza.

The mission, mostly funded by the United Arab Emirates, is being organised by US based charity World Central Kitchen (WCK), while Spanish charity Proactiva Open Arms is supplying the ship.

"Our goal is to establish a maritime highway of boats and barges stocked with millions of meals continuously headed towards Gaza," WCK founder Jose Andres and chief executive officer Erin Gore said in a statement.....

I'm not winning on this Hump Day morning.

I was up at a ridiculous 3am, couldn't get back to sleep, then found that once getting up found that I can't stand straight without pain again and at 7am I'm just about to have a 4th coffee of the morning (I'll be peeing well shortly), but I have got all my usual Hump Day domestic duties done.

I was going to start taming my jungle again today, but that won't be happening as I don't want to make spinal matters any worse than they currently are so I may have a go at cutting and preparing the 3 steel plates that I need to finish another project off instead (as I won't have to stand up straight to do that).

We got off to a breezy 12C (felt like 10C) start here this morning and hopefully that will start going up soon towards our expected 25C. Thankfully the forecasted heatwave that we're suppose to be having has died in the butt.

Anyhow I better finish this coffee before I go and water my veggies.

Cheers.
