There's an extremely easy way to add however many zeros you need to the budget: stick them out in front. :)

Well arkayn, this might be your last Panic Mode thread for a while, once the new servers are in place. Should we start a pool on how long it'll take to reach PMO 42?

Deactivated. This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked.

Maybe it was a bad listing with wrong info?

Results Awaiting Validation has also been dropping, but has recently gone up a little once the servers were turned back on today.

I doubt it. It came back up again, and besides, we've been in a large-scale outage already, there's no point for having a weekly outage right now.

I tried to post a reply a few hours ago about how you can panic now, because the database was having trouble again, none of the posts were getting marked as Read. But the post didn't go through because of the database trouble. It looks like it's fixed now, so so much for saying you can panic now.

vader is a last name; most others are first (or only) names.

I always thought Vader was an only name (like Sting or Madonna), as I have always considered "Darth" to be a title or honorific of some sort, as evidenced by his predecessor being Darth Maul.
(odd that my spell check doesn't know "Darth" but knows "Vader"... weird)

I find it amusing that although the project is set to be down for at least a month, boincstats.com shows it as being online, and with a green light for tasks available ^_^.

On a more serious note, however, that could be confusing for new boincers who see that SETI is up and with available work, they attach only to find out the project is really down and with no new work downloads.

Is there a setting that can be changed in the file that gets downloaded by these sites to say the project is down with no new work, or will the different site owners need to change it manually?

Either/Or... I've had mine on NNT, and it's behaved itself and not pestered the servers once. Whichever makes you feel better, I guess

I figure they'd just watch the server stats, and when "Results out in the field" reaches 0, they can feel safe turning it off.

Docking@Home
Orbit@Home (when they have work available)
Cosmology@Home

couple health projects and some space projects

And if you get bored waiting for SETI to come back up, head over to zooniverse.com and help out with some citizen science. There are several projects available that need volunteers.

Yup, no new work until new servers are up. At least that's my understanding of the situation.

From Jeff:
We've decided to keep the project down until the new servers are up and running and the databases migrated to them.

The forums will stay up.

The back end and the upload server will stay up until we clear the outstanding results.

The time line we are looking at is about one month - two weeks for the servers to arrive and another two to get them going. We'll see as time goes on whether or not that's too aggressive.

The down time will be used for preparing the databases for migration. For example, on the science side, we can finally finish a big merge of the spike table and drop the old spike table. This will make the database smaller and easier to migrate.

We will also use the time for science processing and analysis.

Granted, he doesn't say "no new work," but that's what I understand "keep the project down" to mean.
