Try to reset the project and if it doesn't work, then Detach and Reattach to it. I haven't had any problems.

Yes, it took about 1 week for my last donation to appear. I was going to wait until my credit card bill came, but no need.

I do have a CP but if everyone was using the CP as much as I do, let's just say that the CP companies would go bankrupt... Actually, I have not dialed a number for over a week on my cell phone. It must have rang about 2-3 times this week! And it was mostly about work in the morning.

The old workunits (or computer results if you want to call them) are deleted after a period of time and do not appear anymore in your account or in your computer account. What remains is the credits you have and the new workunits. By new, I mean workunits that are still being processed, workunits that have not yet validated and workunits that have finished processing and have validated but are a few weeks to 2 months old at most. All the other workunits do not appear at your account.

Your computer accounts seem fine to me.

Hello all,

Just seconds ago I had to abort the following WU:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=130557240

It was running for more than 30 hours, it was stuck at 0.676%, and the graphics were not working properly for this WU.

Since another computer has abandoned it after seconds of processing, I am guessing that it is a bad WU.

Error reporting:

I wanted to check out the Client Connection Types List http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/client_types.php, but it seems that the script was running on galileo which is currently retired, so an error message appears instead:

Warning: filemtime() [function.filemtime]: stat failed for /home/boincadm/projects/sah/log_galileo/connection_counts.out in /disks/setifiler1/home/boincadm/projects/sah/html/user/client_types.php on line 11

I am sorry to see that some people think they own the project because they volunteer to crunch WUs. It shouldn't be about just crunching WUs and getting credit but about the science of it.
The project says that there will be outages, times when there will be no work, and as with every project, there are problems. Servers are machines and machines break down. Without money to be able to have redundancy, failures such as the one we've seen can happen. This is a scientific project, and as with everything in science, there are very few certainties.
And if you really do want to do something about it, then as other people said donate. Or if you really want to do something very important, then convince your governments to spend more on scientific endeavors and projects and less on weapons and stupid wars.

Modesto, I agree with you.
While SETI is down, there are other worthwhile projects one can help like Einstein and Rosetta, as Matt suggested. SETI is a university program with a very limited budget, and the people are doing their best with what they have.

Helios is totally Greek. The Romans called the Sun "Sol" from which the designation "Sol system" in many scifi shows originates. The name Helios is the current word for Sun in Greek even today. In Italian the name for the sun is "sole".
I am half-greek half-italian, and live in Athens Greece.

Sol is the word in spanish AND in portuguese, SOLar system was that what you meant right?

No, I meant that sometimes when in scifi shows they refer to our solar system, they name it "Sol system" and the sun is sometimes named "Sol". Have seen/heard it a number of times. Also solar and all derivations of solar come from the Latin word "Sol" which as you said is the word for sun in spanish and portuguese even today.

Actually, Kronos might be better (or just Saturn). Otherwise known as the "first/best sun," if you want to get into mythology... Granted Helios is "better known," but Kronos/Saturn was "the first / the best / the primeval ruler of the heavens." Of course Kronos sounds cooler. ;o]

~Michael

Actually, Uranus and Gaia were first born of Chaos. Kronos was a Titan and father to Zeus and most of the Olympian gods.

I also crunch for the science and do not care about credits. I have replied somewhere else that I would still crunch projects even if there were no credits. I am in it for both the astronomy and computer science.

BOINC: It is a really good project allowing more than one Distributed Computer project to run at the same time. If you look at my sig, you'll see I am running 6 projects plus LHC@home which is in the middle of a move so no credits yet.

I do not care about credits really, and didn't when I started crunching for SETI back in 1999. I care about the science, I care about helping in projects like SETI, Einstein, Rosetta and such.

I do not have any issues with BOINC; on the contrary it has been very easy to install, run and configure. I also like the fact that if there is a problem, all I have to do is check the message boards; there has to be someone who had/has the same problem, or I can post freely and get advice and solutions from the good caring people of the BOINC and project communities.

Have been running BOINC for more than a year now, and have not had any problems. As for the computer details collected, this has nothing to do with private details; there is no name, no personal details, just a computer configuration, of which you can find many similar or even identical ones.

In fact, WCG gives a number of smaller projects the opportunity to be able to run their projects. Most of them are short term but important projects that could help develop new and safe cures for cancer and other illnesses.

Hello,

Those reminder e-mails help... Changing PCs and other stuff (unfortunately very ugly) that happened to me, made me forget about SETI. I still have something like 600 units from the classical SETI. However, a reminder e-mail that I got last year made me reattach to SETI and now I am also contributing to other projects I am interested in. Would like to be able to run a few more but have limited resources for now.
