Seems to have started uploading again (don't need more work just yet...) about an hour ago. Of course, there'll be a traffic jam for a while...

Ah, and from the front page:

June 4, 2005
Update: the scheduling and data servers are back on line. Service may be a bit slow for a while.

Erm... Is this a bug, or is this (and the long eerie silence on XML stats) a new (or, perhaps, the bad old) un-communications policy?

Will do! My A64 3200+ is getting a serious inferiority complex!

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything... but these XP clients are *so* fast, my XP2200 and XP2400 are theatening my Athlon64 3200+ !!

An equally souped-up AMD64 client would be way cool! :)

No update to S@H stats on boincstats.com for 24 hours.

Is this problem back again?

(Please! I'm not sucking around for the "Why we do this" lecture; I just really like to watch those stats :)

"Website" looks like the best fit for this Q, sorry if I've misunderestimated...

Anyway, Boincstats.com's S@H stats haven't updated for over 2 days. Is the problem on their end, or has the replica db they use (see time-warped Tech News page ;) ) fallen behind again?

You were close the first time, Aki! For Debian, the "native" library is in the package zlib1g-dev. The AMD64-from-i386 version is in the AMD64-libs-dev package. But I had the native version installed at the time.

Thanks, though, Aki

Hi again, Aki :)

This is a Pure64 system (64-bit kernel and packages), so it doesn't have a amd64-libs - the libs (libstdc++, etc.) are all 64-bit. There is an IA32-libs package, which is installed.

There are no nightly tarballs and the CVS sources don't come with a pre-built configure or Makefile script. The seem to need autoconf and automake, and I'm without a clue about that stuff...

I don't know where they are either, so I just pulled from CVS. The handy command line is right there on the page - http://boinc.berkeley.edu/source_code.php

As of now, it says:
<p>
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@alien.ssl.berkeley.edu:/home/cvs/cvsroot checkout boinc
<p>
for the latest version, or
<p>
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@alien.ssl.berkeley.edu:/home/cvs/cvsroot checkout boinc_public
<p>
for the latest "released" version.

I can't get either to build under Debian AMD64, though :(

Running Debian Unstable Pure AMD64 on an Althon64 3200. I suspect that I need to complile a seti client for AMD64, which I've flailed at for a couple of days. If so, a cry for help with that will be my next post :

But, just to confirm - I've downloaded several different BOINC clients - the "standard" x86, optimized XP, optimized AMD64, etc. All start up OK, download a seti client (if necessary) and WUs. Then, the fun begins:

This is because the seti client can't work on AMD64, right?

Thanks for any help.

It may have to do with the optimizations of each client's respective compiler. This will affect the credit you get for completing WUs. You'll get different results for the *same* processor (not just the same model, the same actual chip) on Windoze and Linux Boinc clients because of the differences between the compilers used on each OS.

Same here, or maybe worse. I have 57 pending WUs out there, from every month since July. As John MacLeod #7 says, it looks like the ones that didn't get 2 other matching results haven't been resent until this week.

Patience. Again.
