I just realized it's been over 21 years for me. Jesus...where has the time gone?

Lol, you're not kidding!

Whilst that is very decent of you, their is no reason he or she couldn't have done that, also at many forums you'd get a warning from the mods for not posting in the native language, hence my light hearted comment.

I recently registered at a German forum and I don't speak a word of German, I was going to write my 1st post in German and English (in case the translation was really bad! lol) to another English person there, annoyingly Google translate wasn't working at that point (turns out the 'Translate page' is temperamental with that site!), anyway I considered it rude to not at least attempt a native posting so I PM'ed her instead. I'll be trying DeepL instead next time (seems to do a better job with German anyway). Anyhow, it's usually easy enough to provide a translation, even if it ends up being pretty bad! lol ;).
Anyway, you're the mod, so if you're happy with it, then that's the end of it :)

¿Tienen alguna fecha estimada para dar a conocer el resultado de los datos recopilados?

Funny, I thought it was an English spoken forum here ;), try using Google translate, or DeepL

Congrats on hitting 21yrs crunching :), you're lucky to have been able to do that! Unless you bunkered of course ;).

No, no tasks left, ran out a couple of days after they turned the taps off.
TBH I thought that was it & have moved onto for Rosetta for now. The only reason I brought this up is because I discovered it was still showing me on the website that I have 90 tasks.
That's when I realised when I tried to update the optimised app, & the WUs vanished, that it's probably those WUs, & maybe I still have them?
Anyway, I wasn't looking to get new WUs, but see if I can uncover the ones I've got.

Richard
I'll check out the link, thanks :)

. . The only process I know that works is having several results to upload and trigger the ghost resend. It used to be limited to 20 ghosted WUs but that has been increased greatly and is at least 40 WUs at a time now, it may even be greater than that. But when you have nothing actually in progress to return there is no way that I know of. They will be resent when their deadlines expire, just not to the original host/volunteer.

Stephen

. . :(

Damn, OK thanks for LMK Stephen.

Strangely SETI is showing 90 tasks in progress for me, when I finished WUs 2-3 April!
What's that about?
Oh wait, I remember trying to update the optimised app on my 2nd rig & the WUs vanished! I went back to the std install but they never came back :(. Could they still be in there somewhere?

I did get a notice about SETI shutting down, I would imagine it would have been universal? But sometimes those notices seem to be a bit hit or miss.

Did you see my (& others) previous reply to you about suggestions for other projects? (end of previous page).

If "space related projects" includes Astrophysics then Einstein@Home should be included.
And probably Cosmology(sp)@Home.

Tom

Einstein was already mentioned ;)
Good call on Cosmology though, I don't know what that one's about!

The last chunk of new SETI@home work has gone out.
Thanks for staying 'til the end.

My account is now 21 years old - registered on 03 april 1999..

Well.. thanks for the ride.. and good luck to you all!

You must have been one of the 1st to register? What was the 1st day?

Rosetta is generating more work than usual, but has enough new requests for it that they are USUALLY out of it. They appear to have the only work under BOINC for helping the COVID-19 research. Their new application version requires more memory. You can do more with each task by setting a higher target time for tasks, but changing the target time too fast tends to give strange results in how fast the progress is going.

On another subject, I've lost the information in how long I've participated in SETI@Home, but it was at least 19 years.

It'll be under 'Projects in which you are participating' at the bottom of your account page.

Almost 15 years. Truly devastated by this news. Anyone have any recommendations on what to crunch next? I have never even thought of running anything else. I would like to crunch something space related. Thanks to ALL of the volunteers who kept this project going! Is there any chance it will come back?

Most answers seem to ignore your space related request, so as well as Einstein@home theirs Milkyway@ home :-

Milkyway@home studies the history of our galaxy by analyzing the stars in the Milky Way galaxy's Galactic Halo. This includes searching for elusive dark matter. This research is done by mapping structures of stars orbiting the Milky Way.....
Additionally, Milkyway@home has recently started developing the "N-body" sub-project, which creates simulated dwarf galaxies and "shoots" them into the Milky Way's gravitational field. We allow the simulated dwarf galaxy's initial conditions to vary until the final simulated dwarf matches what we see in actual halo structures. In other words, we are trying to match dwarf galaxy models to real data, in order to learn more about what is (and what isn't) possible for our Galaxy.
For both projects, we use data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey

The only real 'snag' with this project is that to get a decent amount of science & points you really need to run it on a GPU, & preferable one with a good double precision (FP64) performance (AMD's old HD 7970/280X is still the best here I think![edit] Nope, Rad VII should be better!), but you can still do it with a CPU .

Asteroids@home
The project Asteroids@home was started with the aim to significantly enlarge our knowledge of physical properties of asteroids. The BOINC application uses photometric measurements of asteroids observed by professional big all-sky surveys as well as 'backyard' astronomers. The data is processed using the light curve inversion method and a 3D shape model of an asteroid together with the rotation period and the direction of the spin axis are derived.

Was predominantly run on the CPU, but they do have an Nvidia app for it now.
Doesn't include orbit tracking.

Their are probably other space related DC projects, but these are the other 2 I'm most familiar with.

Because my GPU is crunching folding@home on this rig :), on the other it is crunching SETI atm.
Btw, aren't you forgetting that the WU taps have been turned off? ;) (bar resends), which I must have got some as I'm up to 158 WUs in progress now!

My caches seem quite well stocked actually, I think, err well I have 153 in progress, no idea how long that will last my 2 rigs :o, a couple of days??

As promised, we've stopped the process that puts new data into the queue today. Data distribution will continue until the files shown on the status pages are done. We'll be accepting results and resending results that didn't validate for a while.

Thanks Eric, it's been a good ride :), I hope after you've done all the back end analysis that you'll be sending as new data........unless you find ET of course!
Btw how long's a while, just curious.

Yep, I missed my 20th anniversary here too! Back on October 16th.

Started off crunching on a Celeron 366 @578MHz, IIRC WU times were 8-10hrs then! :)
My Ryzen 3600 seems to be doing them from ~2000-4900s (~0.6-1.4 hrs), & I'm sure SETI searches much more thoroughly! ;).
