I think the Mods here are also pretty experienced at what they do. They fairly accurately guessed that people here would "educate" the poster in question, which of course they did, and he chose to bow out.

Uli also diplomatically popped her head in to let people know that the thread was being monitored. Had it deteriorated, the Mods would have stepped in and dealt with it. It was a minor storm in a teacup, which was defused by not over reacting.


And there I am sitting here thinking Uli was a man oops. Uli would you like to slap my wrists :)

I am stunned by the reply made here as Seti@Home is run by Volunteers at UC Berkeley and someone who has been crunching data for Seti@Home to the tune of 64K credit should be looking at what they are actually crunching data for.

I would suggest that if you feel that way that you stop crunching data and/or posting.


It would appear that the gentleman has moved on....
His last computer contact was the day after that post.


Sad to see people thinking like that and sad to lose a possible helper but there is just no need for that type of tone on a message board! I am a board owner and quite an experienced admin/mod and I would have removed that post due to flammable content which could also have led to proceedings against the poster but hey we are all adults here bar that one poster!

I am going to be donating monthly, only a small amount for now as I can only afford it in that way, however, I have just created my team website which has advertising on it and hopefully I should be able to draw in some cash in that way too. The website also has a forum and is now open and if anyone wishes to come along and join in you would be welcome, even if you are not a team member.

Nice one Tom! I think everyone is feeling the pinch, but supporting Seti at Home is more than a worthwhile project. I am going to be doing a small amount monthly as I find it easier. One thing I would suggest is that if Teams have members who struggle to pay directly, they can have a member who can donate directly take the funds and pay through them. This is easy to do as I have done it through our Guinea Pig forum. Just a thought..

I have managed to donate for the first time, even though it was a meager amount, I will be donating a monthly amount from now on. I wish you luck in your funding drive as you need all the help you can get no matter how small the donation.

I laughed when I saw this thread thinking now I wonder if there are any on here, well of course there are after all. I played for quite a while on the European servers but have started giving it a miss as it's got too samey to keep paying Blizzard a fortune until they come up with something to make people sit up and say WOW I'll go back to that! I am thinking heaven forbid going back to Star Wars Galaxies to see if that's improved wince they killed it by removign the talents and fixing the character tree!

Anyhoo nice seing that there still some geeks left in the world! "That is the online sensation that is World of Warcraft (as Cartmen put it)"

AFAIK, there is none for the moment.

The plugin for S@H Classic is not working on my PC, using Starry Night Enthusiast v4.5.2.


I also have classic running and SN is still working with that, but it would be nice to have a boinc addin.
