Post: Make sure that you are using the current boinc manager 5.4.9, and that you are using the STOCK install. That is, not using an optimized client. We see many posts from people that forget to kill the app_info.xml file linking to thier optimized client. This can both cause errors, as well as keep a client from downloading new work. So far within the past week we have moved from ver. 5.12 - 5.15 of the core client. expect to recieve 5.16 within the next few days or so. whats STOCK install?? i am using 5.4.9, do you mean delete when you say kill? a lot of us just wanted to use a simple program (seti classic) to run by itself in the background, i have no idea what half these posts are talking about, so i can't sort this computation error out. everytime it happens i send it back as a result. sorry for being thick before anyone starts. |

Post: Is there anyone out there working on an add-on that will reproduce the classic seti@home screensaver? As an artist, I am not impressed with the new screensaver, the graphics are just not as clear and bright as the old version and you aren't as mesmerised by it either (get a life I hear you say!). I know a lot of boffins will say the graphics are not important, but I am a non-boffin, and would like to watch the progress of a work unit(even if I don't fully understand what I see!). I've just upgraded from a 200MHz chip to a 1.58GHz one and watching it wizz through WUs is fasinating. I don't really see the problem with the older graphics. Is there no way of incorporating the old graphics? Thankyou. ta for that, forgot to mention i had already had a go with the configuration thingy and no matter how many different ways you can make the new screensaver look,it aint a patch on the simple original one.ill just do the crunching and stuff the screensaver, just hope i can get this new setispy to work and hopefully find a new seti monitor.lot of messing around all this. |
