Had it happen again last night on one of my core 2 duo crunchers, but it has happened on my FX-60 rig also, so I know it's not a cpu dependant bug. Only seems to occurs every week or two or three. Not really chronic. I get the feeling that it may be timing dependant (trying to start 2 threads at once when 2 WUs happen to finish running at the same time), but that's just a gut feeling, I can't be sure.

I'm using a 4400 and Seti shows 50% per CPU. One thing I'm using from AMD is the "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer" that may help.

Does it show 50% per CPU or 50% per thread, thus using 100% of each CPU?

Are you seeing this in Task Manager? If so, under Processes or Performance?

Speaking of the x2 3800, there is a user at Rosetta who just upgraded from a Sempron 3400 to the x2 3800 on the original MB and is having an issue with cpu useage. Here's his dilemna If you think you can help. His username is "the Bad Penquin". I've had him sign up for seti so he could ask the experts here, but his first WU won't be done for 12 hours.

I just installed simply mepis 6.0 rc3 on my xp box. Most of the time seti will be running under XP so I like a four day cache. Under linux I would like a much smaller cache. Is there a way to set this up? I set up a 'work' pref but I can't see any difference. Thanks..john

If you set "Connect to network about every X days" it should work.
Have you done a update project after changing the values on the website ?
