Posted 5 Mar 2011 by ![]() Post: as they are only single spaced whats the distance between the ports on the cards i imagine its quite short - guess sort of 20mm - 25mm - can you get a straight connector that short? (assuming they are heat sinks from the same manufacturer) {edit} just read the other thread where you have been discussing this as you have a few connectors have you tried a dry fit to see which if any is the correct length? |

(Message 1083650)
Posted 4 Mar 2011 by ![]() Post: Claggy yes it was reported as a -177 error because it ran for 2 hours or so - thats the consequence but the cause was the driver crash making the task run long and exceed the estimate - i did not copy all the error in as its a lot of info just the indication that it was a driver exception error the shader clock rate you highlight is read at the start of the wu run and does not change if the drivers fail part way through - possible does if you get a restart as well but it would list two sets of start up info in the stdout |

Posted 4 Mar 2011 by ![]() Post: Couple of things do you have your screen saver disabled? will eat cycles and generally slow you machine down have you rebooted recently? If a nvidia card crashes or the drivers do and then they tend to de clock the card it will not return to full speed unless you reboot not all seti wu errors cause or are a symptom of this do you use a utility like afterburner - if so is it showing the correct speeds for the gpu/shaders/memory? EDIT: just looked at your error'd tasks and basically you have had numerous driver crashes that have de clocked your card and you are seeing this as a long running task reboot the machine and if you have recently done some oc wind it back e.g. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1799600883 stdout ... Running multiple WUs on FERMI's, an avantage or too heavily dependent of AR?
(Message 1082211)
Posted 27 Feb 2011 by ![]() Post: collatz does purely integer math and seti is i believe mostly/fully floating point math so essential using different parts of the gpu but as the Fermi app for your 460 has a lot of potential optimisation to go and lunatics are working on this yes there will be improvement to come and it will be interesting to see what extra performance they can get |

all you would have to do to modify Vyper's approach is join seti on both instances of boinc and have one with the 460 and the other instance with your 295 and you would have what you need |
