Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Throw your teacher overboard
And listen to him scream

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream,
Ha ha fooled ya all
I'm a submarine or will be very soon

Vic

you may have already looked at these but a single slot sli connector may solve you problem for close fitting cards

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Phobya-Variable-SLI-VGA-Connector-1-Slot-/330546093332?pt=Computing_ComputerComponents_Fans_Heatsinks_SR&hash=item4cf6151d14#ht_2405wt_905

min distance is ~18mm

i have used these for back to back gpu cards with EK blocks and should be compatible with Koolance if the picture is anything to go by

as the distance is so short i have found that connecting them before putting into motherboard appears to work best

Yes sorry you are right it suspends them as no usable gpu is found rather than trashing them - my bad as its been a very long time since i used it

WHS V1 is very reliable in my experience

as for WHS 2011 - yuk they have made a complete mess of it and there is now no compelling reason to upgrade in my opinion - as they have taken features out (big fail) and are pushing RAID onto the home user rather than with V1 which did all the "magic" behind the scenes to keep it simple for a non techy user

I had high hopes for it but will now not touch it with a 50ft pole! :)

Paul

i have been running SETI with WHS (V1) PP3 for a long time and it works fine

if there is a pcie slot for a gpu in the Amazon pc then you can crunch with that as well - just dont login with remote desktop or you will trash your gpu work units on the gpu as the remote desktop uses its own graphics drivers instead of nvidia's - use something else like TeamViewer or VNC - the management console is fine also for checking on the server - if just using seti for cpu tasks then remote desktop is fine and for installing software if you are running whs head less

V1 is based on 2003 server 32bit - if you look on the Nvidia site you will not find 32bit 2003 drivers - but the 32bit xp ones work fine

if you are going to just run cpu tasks one thing to be aware of in V1 is that every hour it runs a process to check all the drives and data which hogs the cpu for a few minutes - the length of time this runs depends on the amount of data you have and the speed of the cpu- mine lasts for 10 -20 minutes - i would leave a cpu thread free for this.

As mine is a home built version i run it with a P4 D which is slow and only has two threads so i leave the host just running GPU tasks

As for the plugin for SETI - did not know one existed but i use BoincTasks to check up on progress

Hi

i'm no ATI expert but a couple of things to check/do

does ATI have a driver cleaner utility to remove all traces of the drivers? or use a third party app - as it sounds like the drivers are not installing correctly

how much memory do you have in the pc and on the graphics cards - small possibility is - i think windows has a fit if you have more memory on the cards than the operating system has (actually come to think of it i have had 4 295 in on xp 64 machine with only 6gig ram and that worked ok - so ignore)

I had the blank screen problem the other day and by logging in from another machine it was clear windows was seeing two monitors and just to be helpful the one with the login screen was on the hidden monitor!!! So might be worth a try to see if it has actually installed correctly - i just deleted the second "Plug and play" monitor from device manager and that sorted it when i rebooted - i think its something stupid like the graphics card thinks or had a monitor attached before and remembers between boots - this is with nvidia though

I assume you motherboard does support more than double crossfire - again just a thought

Ok quick update

one person is very close on the lights

and generally you are close to the trees figure

although John VII is way off with his guess on trees

Miep trees are "replaced" when they get too big! or die or dangerous :)

Judging tomorrow evening

Just spotted these pages detailing a new Android app apparently for SETI@home

called SetiQuest Explorer

it appears to be more a visual inspection than traditional crunching

app is still in beta

http://android-apps.com/articles/reviews/setiquest-explorer-2/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PlanetAndroidCom+%28Planet+Android%29

and

http://android-apps.com/applications/education/setiquest-explorer/

not sure how this fits in with SETI@Home but may be somebody else has more info?

and its sponsored by Adobe

Sorry Guys and Girls i got court out by the outage

Right what shall the contest be...

I am working on a project that as part of the requirement we have to replace a large number of street lights or lighting columns

This will be done over a 5 year period and cover a whole city in the UK

so how many lighting columns do we have to replace?

to give you a start the number is between 30 and 80 thousand?

as a secondary question how many tree's do we also have to replace? :) again in the thousands
