I am in the process of (bouncing off the walls) trying to setup our first home network, and while trying to download the current BOINC software mistakenly tried to log in to the BOINC message boards after the download page displayed the link size as 0.00 MB. Again, danke! BOINC is not recognizing either my regular login info (No account with email address xxxxx@xxxxx.net exists. Please go back and try again.) nor the authenticator string. Why should BOINC accept the SETI@home authenticator? (There's no such thing as a BOINC project and so no BOINC authenticator either, at least not in an account*.xml file) Did you have an account at the BOINC dev message boards previous to the outage? 2) Message boards : News : Network routing problems have been fixed (Message 1167447) Posted 3 Nov 2011 by Italy98 Post: I started a new download last night and this morning I find all the processes are still in the transfer mode with the status backoff 10+ hours. question? as of, well i noticed on friday night. i have noticed my transfers are not going through well. i have to babysit them. they keep going "retry in xxxx" which is sometime hours. and othertimes, it says project back off..... what gives?

I tried to log onto both BOINC and SETI and had to revert to using the authenticator string for SETI. BOINC is not recognizing either my regular login info (No account with email address xxxxx@xxxxx.net exists. Please go back and try again.) nor the authenticator string. On the BOINC download page (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) the following is displayed - Download BOINC, 6.12.34 for Windows 64-bit (0.00 MB).

Both my PCs are running 24/7 and it makes sense that with the Rosetta workload why nothing from Seti is loading. I'll mark 'no new tasks' for Rosetta until there is little to process and see what happens with Seti. Thanks again! :)

No "Illegal Instruction (0xc000001d) at address 0x00402818" as you referenced is displayed in the BOINC Manager. There is a 'computation error' under Status on the Tasks tab, and this is only for those jobs completed in 2 - 4 sec (Seti) and 52 seconds (for rosetta@home).

I don't feel any heat and the CPU is in a well ventilated location.

Seti and Boinc are and always have been in C:\\Program files. Lets start with the easiest solution and go from there. Thanks, George More disturbing is the message: 8/22/2007 6:47:23 AM\|\|[error] Couldn't write state file: system rename This is an indication that the person that BOINC is running under does not have write permissions to the BOINC install directory. The default install directory is c:\\program files\\BOINC, and the default permissions for a normal user prevents writing anywhere in the Program Files directory tree. This could also be causing the problem with the aborted tasks. Potential fixes: 1) Install as a service with the service account having administrator priviledges. 2) Move the BOINC install directory away from the Program Files directory (c:\\BOINC works). 3) Grant everyone full access the the BOINC directory tree wherever it is. Let us know which path you want to go down, and we will give you help getting there.
