Whoa, the chicken app is making a very positive difference! Thanks for the tip!

Things go better with Chicken!

I have to agree. The funny thing is...I'm a vegetarian.

OK, I'm now running this chicken app:
32-Bit Windows Rev-2.2B with graphics (current)

My computer has reset itself about 8 times today. I'm trying to figure out why. I've got 2 instances of prime95 running, with temps at 59 c. It may have been the thermal protection restarting it at 65c.

Chicken client, huh? I've heard about it, but never looked into it. I will now.

Thanks

It happened again!

7/31/2007 6:15:55 AM|SETI@home|Reason: Unrecoverable error for result 15ap00aa.24938.32256.590924.3.176_4 (The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3))

And I just upgraded to 5.10.13! Another 10 hours of computer time wasted because it didn't automatically begin a new task.

I'm running the bog-standard 5.8.16, and not even as a service installation. It gets restarted every 2-3 weeks. I suppose I'll leave it up to the devs to keep improving the science app. Not that I could help anyway!

Now I have a different problem, one of the workunits just took 56 hours to complete and ended with a computation error. It just wasted the time of 25 regular workunits! Should it have timed out automatically?

I'm running XP Pro SP2 (I don't think you'll ever catch me running Vista, but I digress)

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling Boinc, with no change. I'm running AVG antivirus.

Thanks,

About twice a week, I'm getting these errors:

SETI@home|Reason: Unrecoverable error for result ----- (The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3))

The stupid thing is that Seti does not automatically end that task and begin a new one. I come home from work to find that 50% of my computer time has been wasted for the past 12 hours!! There's a little grey window that tells me there's been an error.

I also get TONS of com+ event errors in the event manager under Application errors:

The COM+ Event System failed to fire the ConnectionLost method on subscription {A8EDB33C-55FF-4D5D-965A-27769CC279AD}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 80010105.

I have already tried a couple of 'fixes' available on the net, such as unregistering the boinc dll and then re-registering it.

Thanks!

P.S. Here's the Specs: Core2Duo E4300, Evga 680i mobo, 2GB of Gskill ddr2, Antec Truepower trio 600 watt PS.

Well, I'm not running anything else that would be resource intensive at all. Just a browser and freecell perhaps.

OK, so it'll be fixed in 5.10.1. I'm running Boinc 5.8.16. I probably won't upgrade until it's made final, but since it's in the changelog, I'm sure it'll fix it. I'm also not worried about credit, since it's based on actual results.

Thanks, both of you!

I'm getting strange benchmark results from seti/boinc.

I often get a low result like 3120/1722 (float/int) per cpu.

I ran it an hour later and got 3149/6559 / cpu.

I'm running a E4300 Core 2 Duo on an Evga 680i mobo. The cpu is running at 3375 mhz with water cooling at 1.4v Temps are in the mid to low 50's C.

Any ideas?
