Hi everyone,

So reading of WUs, "remodel our database servers" and that Matt Lebofsky has so many cats as do SO many others, please enjoy this video. It made me laugh out loudly, I even watched his other videos as well. He dubs in a cat voice of what the cat is saying to him. He knows kitties..

Hi all,

Just posting my EVGA 470 GPUGRID numbers for you to review. I just started with this new card and already have done more crunching from the end of July to now then the past 10 years of the SETI CPU to GPU evolution!
Note: I leave my computer on 24/7 but do surf the net and play video games as well. I upgraded from a Evga 260-216x added March 2009 'til July 2010 (see graph below). I can't wait to start crunchin' the SETI WUs again!

I wonder what the WU used as a bribe?

Hi Hiamps,

I did some investigation in to the SETI code to see what the WU kidnapper's wants are and soon discovered their shocking demand. "All your cats are belong to us," a clever modification of "All your base are belong to us."

You see, they meow have access to all SETI cat pictured profiles--- including yours. This means all feline pictured must deliver shown fur balls to the Berkeley SETI server room by 12 midnight tonight or the results will be catastrophic!! Seeing to how many "Puss in Boots" pics there are on these damn threads, I'm assuming we will lose half of our members.

"Insert sophisticated reply hee."

Hi Dan,

on a good day if Seti@ has enough WUs, my Evga 260-216 gets around 4,000 to 4,500 RAC a day. You can see by looking at the numbers below though, that it's difficult to average out. I can tell you that I'm averaging about 1000,000 credits a month after I added this card. Before that, it took me around 12 months to do what I can now do in 1 month on my P4-3.2. Keep in mind that I bought this card especially for the SETI@ project, so I run it 24/7, even when I'm not home.

Can you tell what month I added the card?

Hi everyone,

I saw this very cool musical tribute remix song of Carl Sagan and his cosmologist companion Stephen Hawking on YouTube and it just made me really think about what we are looking for here at SETI@ and how as a child, Carl Sagan really opened my eyes to the skies. Anyone remember wanting to fly by one of those pulsars as a child in our imaginary space ship?

Glenn,

Per Ageless - Courtesy starts with your first post of the thread and I agree but I disagree with you statement. I have a 2004 P4-3.2GHz with an old ATI 800X video card- 128MBs, so I added a Nvidia GTX260 back in late April. Check out the difference in ave WU. Can you tell what month it was. It's like I put my computer on Viagra. Woot!

It use to take me 17 months to gain 100,000 credit now I can crunch it in 3 months. That is a MASSIVE difference. That's around 570% more WUs then prior. The ave WU went from a CPU of 18hrs to a GPU of 22mins.

Regarding your time watching TV and crunching, man you aren't kidding. I'll get the blue screen of death if I run both. But I always leave the computer running when I'm not at home and I only watch TV around 2-3 hours a night. During that time I turn off BOINC.

So get a new GPU everyone, just don't play COD4 and TV while SETI running ;)

Seems like the boys over at an EVGA have been busy fixing your concerns and adding to your delights.

May work even if you do not have EVGA cards!

Per Westsail and *Pyxey*
"RivaTuner would only over clock one card at startup for some reason with mixed class cards. I use this to otherclock the 9xx's and riva for the ati or 200xx. Also you DON'T need an evga card to use this utility as I don't own any. Tested on MSI and Tesla."

EVGA Precision 1.8.0 (2009-08-18)

EVGA, once again, sets itself apart from the rest with the EVGA Exclusive Precision Overclocking Utility. This program allows you to fine tune your EVGA graphics card for the maximum performance possible, with Core/Shader/Memory clock tuning, real time monitoring support including in-game, Logitech Keyboard LCD Display support, and compatibility with almost all EVGA graphics cards and some other companies too!

Features:

  • Independent or Synchronous control for fan and clock settings in a multi-GPU system
  • Allows up to 10 profiles, and ability to assign hotkeys to these profiles to allow in-game
  • Ability to view temperatures in the system tray
  • Core/Shader Clock Link/Unlink capability
  • Fan Speed manual or auto adjustment
  • Real-Time on-screen display support for ingame temp, framerate, and clock monitoring
  • Logitech Keyboard LCD Display support
  • In-app temp/clockspeed monitoring of GPU's
  • Information button shows device, driver, memory size, BIOS Revision and SLI mode
  • Ability to choose different skins, and make your own!
  • Now you can save screenshots from your favorite games!

Version History:

  • All vendor specific hardware access code has been moved from the executable file to separate hardware abstraction layer library (RTHAL.dll) to simplify the process of supporting new hardware products in the future
  • Fixed GDI resource leak during monitoring window detachment / attachment.
  • EVGA On-Screen Display Server has been updated to version 3.4.0. New version adds pre-created On-Screen Display rendering profiles and introduces floating injection address hooking technology aimed to reduce the risk of On-Screen Display detection by third party applications (e.g. anti-cheat systems).
  • New skin format v1.2 gives new possibilities to skin developers and reduces skin file size and runtime skin engine memory footprint.
  • Reduced CPU usage for simultaneous GPU and PCB temperature readings, both sensors are being read in single pass now.
  • Added workaround for SLI mode switching related issues on ForceWare 190.xx series drivers. Now Precision is waiting for the end of SLI mode switching process before retrieving any data via NVIDIA driver API.
  • Includes new "Sleek Skins" by Jonttu.
