Posted 5 Oct 2013 by perryjay Post: Can't tell by looking, he only has three APs on his machine now and they are all for his CPUs. That's another thing he may want to play with after awhile. Try APs on his GPU also. Right now, I'm set up to run either two MBs or one MB and one AP on my GTX-650. When I get an AP on my GPU I use a full CPU core to run it. That's just because I grabbed someone else's app_config file and I'm too lazy to change it. :) |

How do I configure seti@home to run multiple WU on one GPU?
(Message 1424699)
Posted 5 Oct 2013 by perryjay Post: Remember, WUs weren't validating for a few days due to server problems. That's why the sudden jump in RAC. As was said, just be patient while things work themselves out. It takes awhile for everything to settle. Once you see where you are when that happens then you can play around some more. I think you are at two at a time on your GPU, maybe in a little while you can try three. |

(Message 1422818)
Posted 1 Oct 2013 by perryjay Post: As they said, just be patient. I'm running an I-5 3330 with a GTX 650 SC and you can see where my RAC is now. I'm running optimized of course and two V7s or one AP and one V7 at a time on my GPU. The AP work really does bump you up if you can get them. :) As to Mark Sattler, his machines are nice to aspire to but he does a lot to get them up where they are. I'm not sure what he has been doing lately but he has most of his machines super cooled and clocked to the max. |

I'm not positive on that though so you should wait until someone a bit more knowledgeable comes along. |

Considering a new computer with crunching as a sideline
(Message 1416004)
Posted 15 Sep 2013 by perryjay Post: This is my new little 3.0GHz I5. It is a Gateway that I got through the EMachines class action lawsuit. Not bad for a free computer. :) http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7056323. I'm pretty happy with it. It also has a GTX650 SC in it. It's been running since July 31st and my RAC has hit 13,135 and a total credit so far of 557,131. Of course Lunatics has a lot to do with those numbers. Oh yes, I also upped the power supply to a 550 watt. |

Several questions all at once about GPU processing
(Message 1401776)
Posted 11 Aug 2013 by perryjay Post: I've been away for awhile so this may have been fixed but as I remember you have to clean install one, I believe the Nvidia first then the ATI. At the time, if you installed the ATI drivers they would play havoc with the Nvidia drivers when you tried to install them over the ATI. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong or this has been fixed. |

AP tasks at last!
(Message 1399915)
Posted 7 Aug 2013 by perryjay Post: Okay, finished the first one, the -6, runtime was 26,739 and CPU time was 22,148. This was run on the CPU- optimized so I don't think it was bad at all. Credit given 698.68. I think I screwed up on installing the opt-app and forgot to mark APs to go to the GPU. I'll play around with it this way for awhile though. Of the other two that completed it one was running NVidia open CL and the other was running ATI open CL. Both way faster than me. |

Posted 5 Aug 2013 by perryjay Post: Thank you Spitfire, that's just what I did. I now have two V7s running on my cuda. I'll let it go for awhile to see how it does. I just wasn't sure if I needed to change anything else. If this goes okay for awhile then I will probably change it to .33. We'll see. I tried to add an app_config but couldn't get it going. I'll play around with that some other time. |

New computer, new OS, new GPU, new BOINC Manager.. HELP!!
(Message 1397743)
Posted 1 Aug 2013 by perryjay Post: Thanks to buying cheap junk in the past I now have a shiny new I-5 3300 Quad Gateway computer. Got it free through a class action lawsuit against EMachines. I also bought an EVGA GTX-650 GPU to go with it. Stupid computer came with Windows 8 installed. After much cussing and fussing and googling I have finally figured out how to get everything to play nicely. Now for the problems and questions. I have got it optimized with the newest installer. Everything is running okay with 4 on my CPUs and one on my GPU. Right now I'm working on CUDA 42 work. I think I got those when I picked the wrong choice the first time I tried the opti installer. I also have a herd of CUDA 50s waiting to run.All are V7 7.00. I did get one AP but it got screwed up in download. I'm sure this GPU can handle at least two at a time but I need help on how I should set my ap-info. The ap-info is the one the installer gave me. I printed it out, all 13 pages of it and am completely confused as to what to change. I want it to run at least 2 APs and two or more MBs. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. |
