I have the same problem, but on Windows 8.1. I assume the fixes for win7 won't work on 8.1. Am I wrong? Any pointers on fixing this in Win 8.1?

Could power supply efficiency be the difference? The difference being lost as heat in the power supply.

Yours also seems to be Fermi Class (compute capability 2.1) therefore same suggestion, probably 4.2 or 5, and splitting hairs to tell the difference

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Does this work with the Pi 1 Model B? Does it take advantage of the GPU? I know the CPU is pretty weak on this unit...

Yes it does work. No it doesn't use the GPU.

Hey Vitalii,

Are you running Raspbian? I am. I successfully ran a unit on my Raspberry Pi Model B+. Before I installed boinc I did :
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

This way I had the latest of Raspbian.

According to the estimate, one unit will take just over 7 days on my Pi B+. Of course the Pi 2 or Pi 3 will crunch them faster. I think GPUs would be more cost-effective power wise.

The steps are pretty simple. First install the Boinc client software:

I followed your steps and it worked. I just wanted to try it out, I don't want to dedicate the Pi to crunching. What is the command to set no new tasks? (Or you could link me to where I can find this info.) I'll let it finish the workunit it's working on, just to see how long it takes.

Nevermind, I found it :

Can a bad battery make the motherboard refuse to power up?

What amount we are talking about ? About 20 cents ? for real ?

Thought about a new mainboard it will cost 20 to 40 Dollars i think.

Give it a try ! I had severaly boards they wont boot up without battery, even doesnt start the PSU.

I happened to have the right battery handy, so I tried it. No joy.

I thought the battery was for cmos ram and the real time clock. Can a bad battery make the motherboard refuse to power up?
