If these guys can make it in their garage then I wonder what the hold up is on mass production. :)

Another thing that was VERY interesting, to me anyway, was the guy, in Europe, that made a plactic car, which is why it won't be coming to the US, that madea vehicle run on compressed air. He has 2 compressed air cylinders under the vehicle and filles it up at the local gas station air pump. NO other kind of fuel required. Basically they run the normal gasoline engine in a closed environment, pumping the air thru the air intake which forces the pistons, etc to move powering the vehicle. They have several models from 2 seaters, of course, to larger 4 seaters. Here is a link to one of the companies http://auto.howstuffworks.com/air-car.htm It is up and running NOW so you can go out and buy one right now!!!! Of course something has to compress the air in the first place so it is not totally green. But it is a whole lot closer than my car!! There are ideas to use sunlight to run the compressor that you plug into to fill up the onboard air tanks. There are also thoughts on how to use a compressor on board to extend the range beyond a few hundred miles, but that is not an option yet.

No, it's not lens flare - that follows a predictable path depending on the incident angle of the sun and the lens. This object follows a slight S shape, doesn't have a uniform speed and shows some indication of a shadow in places.

I'm certain there is nothing paranormal going on. I think paranormal stuff only exists in the subconscious and cannot influence physics, even after having had an out of body experience myself that defies explanation.

The background is distorted, and the object shares characterics with this distortion, so my guess is that it is an insect crawling over the surface of what is causing the distortion, perhaps the lens or a pane of weathered glass.

Insects do not rotate with beams of light...not to mention they don't glow.

I thought he was trying to say that the insect was interfering with the reflection, thereby causing it to change.

I do seem to have asked a rather more complicated question than I first thought: But it's been interesting noting that there are some anomalies; I crunched the last of my Classics in March 2005- I think- then had a 2-year hiatus, before beginning with Boinc full-blown in February.
But thanks for explaining how, as a relative late-comer, I have such a low ID (I seem to have a vague recollection that this was my ranking at the time I last crunched- or am I suffering a case of byte-fatigue?).

ID # has nothing to do with anything you did, other than sign up.

Stand still, cover you're self up with stink lay down and act corpsefied, pray to you're dear fluffy god.

Bears do not eat their large animal kills right away. They tend to bury them and come back later. So lying down and playing dead will get you a lot of bites and holes in your body and deep scratches and then buried, about 1/2 inch of dirt scrapped up over you, and then left for later. IF you can survive that, you can then run away after the bear leaves. Of course if you find a hungry bear, you are lunch!

Good bear advice here http://www.mountainnature.com/Wildlife/Bears/BearEncounters.htm

Basically a can of good pepper spray, not the cheap stuff, and some kind of noisemaker will help a lot. Bears are scared of things bigger and badder than themselves. This not being a common ocurrence in the wild, you need to make the bear THINK you are bigger and badder. Standing up really tall, raising your arms over your head, bears do not have really good eyesite, screaming, yelling and blowing a really loud whistle have helped some in the past. The pepper spray is for when they come too close. You need one that can spray out like 15 feer or more, they are NOT cheap. Also drop a backpack, if you are wearing one, to distract them if they chase you. You CANNOT outrun a bear!!!!! They can run MUCH faster than you and I. The part about your son being faster than the slowest person is why fainting goats are used in flocks to protect them against wolves. The wolf stops at the fainted goat and the real flock gets away.

Canon A1 and Canon AE1 Program. Several lenses - it is going to EXPENSIVE to switch to digital. There are no digital bodies that fit those lenses.

ACTUALLY John, my wife uses my A1 and her old AE1 lenses on her new 20D. Full functionality, no, but they do work fine.

By no means do all civilizations have a flood myth. Several tribes of Native Americans do not for example. The Pueblo Indians for example believe that they came up from under the ground into this world.

However, I have read that all of the peoples that are possibly traced to the Black Sea Basin at the time where there was a possible (not yet proven) flood of enormous proportions have flood myths.

There are other civilizations that have flood myths that are probably not connected to this possible event, for example, the Chinese have, I believe, a flood myth.

The usual explanation of the flood myth, is that at some time in the past the Mediterranean was not there or hundreds of feet lower than it is now. The Atlantic broke through the pillars of Hercules by Gibraltar to produce what we know today. As the Bible was based around the Holy lands which for all intents and purposes was the eastern mediterranean, any change in sea level like that would have completely changed the whole "world" as they knew it.

Agreed, but did it really happen THREE different times? Gilgamish, I forget the middle name and Noah. I think the Bible was relating a tale, not a fact. Although there are MANY that believe the Bible is pure and utter fact. A verbatim account given by God to whomever was writing at the moment.

Wife has a Cannon 20D and LOVES it. It takes pictures that are waaaay better than she needs. She takes sports action photos of the kids lacrosse games and then cuts out the extra stuff. Hi mega-pixel cameras are perfect for that kind of stuff.
On a side note I think you meant '40D' not '400D'.

I read somewhere mikey (sorry, I forget the source), that nearly every culture all across the world has some kind of flooding/ark style myth. I found that quite interesting.

Every culture all across the world has stories of flying beings that help out mankind, go away, and promise to return one day.

Read Von Daniken

I read him several years ago and find some of his ideas fascinating.

Aren't they just!

He has no real proof but its all written very well.

Also interesting that most cultures around the world have this similar legend that "something" significant happened about 11,000 BC.

Duncan Lunan wrote on it for one....

I was watching a show on Cozumel, Mexico the other day and their underwater caves. Thye talked all show long on how the people could have gotten back into this one spot that was over a mile underwater. Then they showed some pictures of natives in some kind of helmet using conch shells(as air resivoirs) wile underwater. Where on Earth would they learn to do that? I think there have been visitors to Earth in the past, and they may still be coming today. Some of these pictures/drawings are just too detailed and depicting things that they should not know. Why does early man always think of space ships and people with helmets on? How would they know that there was no air in space? Why would you draw people needing helpmets in space if you didn't think there was a reason? How would an ancient hunter, gatherer or farmer know about such things? Why would they then draw about them? Many interesting thoughts and hopefully none of them insulting!

[I did know people when I was young who were criminals and they had guns, but they never used their legally purchased guns for crime because those tended to be expensive, had serial numbers and were well made. The guns they used for crime were always ratty untraceable throwaways they bought for pennies on the black market.

My buddy, who has a license to buy and sell guns, showed me his catalog one day, there was a $37.00, his price, handgun in there!!! Obviously it was not one a good, upstanding person would buy that wants to show it off, but for a throwdown gun, it would be perfect! Or even one you wanted to buy and sell to a criminal, not knowing what they were going to do with it of course.

first it tells us "for the gate is wide and the way is easy", THEN it tells us "For the gate is narrow and the way is hard"!

Maybe you overlooked the fact that God was referring to two different gates... ;)

Damn now I have to think about TWO gates! Why can't that book of yours just go back to its simple ways? Like thou shalt not kill, or thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife, or turn the other cheek! This damn two gate stuff is why I am not a religious man! Find me a religion that is simple, easy, truthfull, none of this blowing or rams horns and a whole city comes crashing down stuff, and you will find me at the door. This damn stuff about an ark and some flood that if you weren't on it you died crap, is too damn wierd! Another thing about that damn flood, Noah lived about a thousand years, give or take, after Gilgamish, yet the same story, the flood, happened! God wiped out the World and all its people TWICE! What did he mess up the first two times? If he is all powerful and ALWAYS right and all that crap, how did he make a mistake?! And none of this stuff about 'human nature' and 'human choices' either! I want to be able to drive a car that get 200 miles per gallon of non oil AND do about 100mph while doing it. About 10 years from now we will be able to do that. Why is god hiding this from us if he can let us become SOOOO bad that he needs to find a few chosen few and wipe the rest of us out?! Seems to me his is picking and choosing what he wants us to know and just chose poorly in the beginning. Maybe he is choosing poorly now and we just don't know it yet!

I think is insulting behavior by god and he needs to stop treating us like his children and more like human beings!

I need to vent a little frustration. My niece had a hard drive failure, wouldn't boot correctly. I did some research and decided a recovery program called "SpinRite" would be my best bet. Ran the program, it didn't find any errors on the hard drive. Says it's a "Healthy drive" yet it's still unbootable and I'm out of $89.00. So apparently the actual data is in good shape, but it can't be booted without an error.. I'm thinking the boot sector is corrupted. Does anybody know how to replace a corrupted boot sector in windows XP? Or could it be another problem?

Go online and get yourself a sonnector that will let you use the drive thru the USB connection. It is about $50.00 at http://www.cyberguys.com or wherever. At least you can then backup the data and try reformatting it. I would perosnally NEVER use it as a primary drive again, at least not in a system I need the data from. I have tons of these kind of drives in my Boinc machines though. They seem to work fine. If one crashes again, I put a big X on it and reformat and reuse it. If it crashes again, in the trash it goes.

Post:
The 55mph speed limit in the US was because of all the deaths that occured, statistly speaking, at higher speeds. Was it MADD, it was some lobby group, that convinced Congress to make the Federal Hiway Admin people make States lower it to 55mph, hiway monies are MILLLIONS of dollars each year. Prior to that it was a State by State thing. Now the States have lobbied on their own behalf and it is higher in alot of places. BUT within a 50 mile radius of a Major City, I think population of 1 million, the speed limit still drops back to 55mph!

To answer the next question...Why is the US drinking age 21? Same reason lobbists convinved Congress to withold hiway monies for States that did not raise it 21!
