Do you really believe that with all the best lawyers that large corporations and wealthy businessmen and staunch conservative Republicans been able to hire, not one person or business sought to declare it unconstitutional if that were even remotely possible? Do you really believe that in close to 100 years, nobody has stumbled onto these arguments until now?

No. The reason it hasn't been challenged in close to 100 years, is because the best legal advice in the country has often informed the ambitious that such a challenge could not succeed in law.

Many people have tried. All have failed.

Just ask Al Capone! They did not send him to jail for being a mobster, they sent him to jail for not paying TAXES on his income while being a mobster!!

I used to have a nice RAC, near 8,000 or so, but now....
BUT we have a NICE rack at my place of work. I said so and the lady sitting there said "thank you" and burst out laughing. I was talking about the new rack to hold all the forms but she is such a nice person, always seeing the funny side of things, she actually made me think about what I had said! It is no wonder she is the Secretary all the public sees and also why they named an award after her!! The new rack is about 10 feet wide and 5 feet high, the old one was about 3 feet square, this one is MUCH better!! The Secretary, she is in her 60's.

I think we're getting a little off track insofar as the laws of thermodynamics debate is going. Seems to me the real key point of the video is the use of hydrogen in place of other fuels, ...

The 'clever' trick would be to extract hydrogen gas from oil and natural gas at source and pump the CO2 liberated back down the source oil/gas well.

The geological strata there has kept the oil confined for millennia. If the oil/gas company are not too sloppy about their well heads, then the stuff should stay confined for a few millennia yet. The heat and pressure down there might even let the CO2 form carbonaceous rocks.

And then again, there could well be the sort of disaster as has happened with the mud volcano in Indonesia...

For whatever is proposed, the complete fuel cycle must be considered.
Regards, Martin

The problem seems to be cost, not with your scenario, but with the whole industry. How many companies do you see burning natural gas off everywhere? ALL OF THEM DO IT! Why do they do it you ask, because it is not cost effective to capture the gas and then sell it. WHEN that becomes cost effective it is time to start thinking about being worried for your oil company stocks!

Astronomy is a science and Seti is a quest/exploration, while Boinc is a program using bits and pieces of computer science.

Since nothing has been discovered, nothing can be duplicated and validated...a cornerstone of science.

If the results are never analyzed how do we know nothing has been found? More results means a MUCH larger headache when someone finally grabs the Project by the horns and writes a program to finally analyze the data produced. For all anyone knows ET may have been found during the Classic days. There is just no way to KNOW!!! Sure they have been talked about doing something about it for a very long time, but actions are lacking in this area.

The Big Wheel keeps on turning, Brian; what was downside,
becomes upside.

Never lose optimism- even if only that the sun will rise tomorrow,
because you gain a richer perspective with time.

My best wishes to you, my fellow Human

I'm going to get on a soapbox now...and this isn't about you at all greg. I have no issues with you...

You know, I sit back and watch the pettiness that goes on with some of the fights here. All of the wrongs that have been done, has any of it made it "right" again for anyone to just commit more wrongs against the person who you felt wronged you? Those in positions of power, is it possible that you misunderstood? Those of you not in positions of power, is it possible that you push to far?

The person I'm upset about feels I wronged them. In response, they have decided that they are going to wrong me. The temptation for me to retaliate is very strong, particularly when there never was anything for them to be mad about in the first place, as it was all in their head.

Why can't people forgive? Why do people hurt others, especially the people that really genuinely care about them? Why do we all take each other for granted so often?

Brian I have made MANY people mad in my life, I have always walked away, well almost always, and found that if I dwell on their problem with me, they are winning. If I say NO I will not let whatever they do bother me, then they cannot win. If they, no WHEN they realize that they are not winning, they will either quit or try harder. Either way YOU are then winning! Sometimes we win by walking away and forgetting about them and their petty ways.
I had a girlfiend once, yea I know I had a girlfirend!!!, anyway she dumped me over a guy that we both new. It was not that she liked him or anything, he said something to her about me that was untrue, and he knew it was untrue when he said it. I asked him about it, he got angry, I walked away and he got REALLY, REALLY angry! He was in a position to do damage to my career, he was soooo angry that it showed when he tried. He ended up losing much more that I did. The girlfriend, she moved on and I do not miss her! I found another, then my wife of 24 years! Life is better now than it ever was with her and that guy in it.

Almost... You see, there is no need for a corporation to make HHO. You put water in a tank on your car and that's it.

That is the part that won't work. Where does the energy come from to turn the water into hydrogen and oxygen (it has to come from someplace)? Remember that you get less energy out than was put in.

How this application works seems to be just the application of electricity. You have 2 electrodes in the water and hydrogen splits out and rises to the top. Similar to what the Germans did in WWII to make Heavy Water. Now they made thousands of gallons of the stuff, Heavy Water, but they made it by spliting the H20 with electricity. So maybe a battery to get you started and then recharge the battery as you go along. Hydrogen was used by the Germans to make fertilizer. I don't know that process. The Germans did add lime and phosphate to the water to make it VERY caustic, this made the Heavy Water split out and combine better. All this was explained on the Discovery Channel when they talked about the ferry boat sinking during WWII in Finland, I think.

Unfortunately, this is a perpetual motion machine - and these have been proven impossible. The basic idea expounded is to start with water, produce hydrogen and oxygen from the water, turn the hydrogen adn oxygen back into water, and extract extra energy during the entire process.

The first law of thermodynamics states (paraphrased) that energy cannot be produced from nothing. Basically states that a system cannot gain energy.

The second law states that any actions turn some of the available energy into base heat (you can't even break even).

The HHO engine is garbage science.

I believe you are correct John, but think that to not do the experiments will do nothing but maintain the status quo with regard to such machines. No perpetual motion machines are not possible, but I do believe we can get a whole lot closer than we currently are. An internal combustion engine is only like 14% efficient. To do these kinds of experiments we may find the key to making them a whole lot more efficient and thus extend the time before they become useless due to the costs in running them. If this HHO concept can be made to run at say 50% efficiency then we have tripled, based on my earlier number, the time we have left before we MUST find something else. Along with that is included the fact that some of us can afford to run them long after others would be forced to stop.

You shouldn't posture here, you don't know who you are dealing with. That's all I will say. We are in virtual reality, and what would happen if you pushed your position in somebody's face might not be pretty.
Let's just keep a civil tongue, and eveybody gets out of here alive.

Posturing is not me, I was just trying to say why I was not concerned about the "sand in the face". I am sorry if you got the wrong impression out of my words. I am a very nice guy and will ALWAYS try to talk my out of a problem before I walk away from it. The few times I have gotten angry, people have gotten hurt. I gave one guy 7 stitches. I do not relish that part of me and try to keep it away from the public. I will often agree to disagree or even agree with anothers point of view, just to stop the escalation of something. What I think in my own mind is irrevelant at that moment. I can bring up old conversations many, many times until I understand why you feel the way you do. My wife yells at me for doing this with her mom. My mother-in-law just does some things I do not understand the rational behind, so we talk, she gets angry, justifing your actions is not an easy thing for most people, and then later on we talk about it again, after she both calms down. My problem is I am fairly smart too, at least I like to think so. That makes for an interesting perspective on my part.

Okay Mikey...YOU WIN! I don't want to brawl with a 300 pound strongman.

You think I'm nuts or sumptin'??

You're beginning to sound as if you're taking some of this banter personally. That isn't my intention at all. I'm just fooling around, having some fun. When you think about it, my proposal that men should be wearing muslim-style veils down to beyond their navels, is totally ridiculous to begin with. ;)

So...I'm getting outta here before I get hurt! LOL

NO NO NO, I do not take things personally here at Seti!!!!! I was just trying to say why I do not worry too much in my life. I do not travel down to the worst part of town, I try to stay away from trouble areas and just live my life in a way that is comfortable for me. I am a peace loving person but when angered can be a force to deal with. I have been told I have the patience of Job. I once held a guy, the same one I stuffed behind the couch, for over 10 minutes while he took swings at me. His arms are much shorter and everytime he swung I pushed his shoulder and his fist came around and missed me by several inches. We 'danced' like this for over 10 minutes. He was sooooo angry and got even more angry with every missed punch! At the end I started laughing at him, which made him even more angry.

"They are just enjoying themselves just like everyone else" is a dangerous rationale when it comes to depravity. Consider the possibilities...

I don't dare say them here out loud. LOL

You're playing with fire, mikey. Someday someone will come along and kick sand in your eyes! oO.

I am 6 feet tall, 300 lbs and look like I have had a bit of muscle in the past. 2 foot surgeries and laying on the couch recovering for 2 years tends to pile on the pounds. I am one of those people in this World that is on the larger side of humanity physically. Few people would consider "kicking sand in my face" and those that do, do not want to make me really mad. I would rather walk away than fight and in fact have had very few in my life. I once had a guy come at a full run and jump onto my back while I was standing still trying to knock me over. I just stood there, grabbed his legs and said "now what?". We were both co-workers so nothing further happened. Another guy at work once got mad and came at me when I was sitting in a lazy boy style chair watching Sunday Football. He ended up stuffed behind the couch with me sitting on the couch keeping him back there. I have lifted weights in the past, but stopped because my clothes stopped fitting and I never found the limits of my strength. I got worried I would end up like Arnold! I was once even asked by a sponsor to do the Iron Man Tournaments. I said no because I LOVED being a firefighter, and it would have taken me away from that. I was on the cover of an International magazine one time. I was even offered a bit part roll in a movie once too.

I mean, have you ever seen some of those fat slobs lolling around on the beach, with their pale fat bellies hanging down over their speedos?

It's indecent, I tell you!

Heyyyy...I happen to BE one of the fat slobs. I just refuse to go to te beach....lmao

HEYYYY if you don't know the people at the beach and will never see them again, let them see it all! What are they gonna do, say something? Your modesty is alive and well around your friends, among people you will never see again.... flash em!!

Mikey! I'm so shocked, I don't know what to say!

Fatties on the beach without belly veils?? Why that's...that'...DEPRAVED!/quote]

But if you don't know it's me, why would I care what anyone thinks? I mean you know it's someone, but if you and the person involved don't become friends or whatever, why would the "fattie" care what others think? So you think they are fat? That is not news to the "fattie". They are just enjoying themselves just like everyone else, maybe even more so because there is more of themselves to have fun. AND if they enjoy people watching, they might even enjoy the show you, and your friends, will put on looking at the "fattie".

Saw Dr. Phil talking to someone yesterday, he was a rich guy but I don't remember who, anyway if you have an idea to get rich and don't take it, it fails! Same thing MIGHT happen if you take the chance and try it, either way a failure is guaranteed if you do not try!

The women are covered up to preserve the intimacy of their appearance for their husbands' enjoyment, I think. It seems more of a property right to me, than any kind of cowardice.

Ah yes, now that is so much more humane. Gee, think what would happen if some woman took off her vail. All that intimacy, gone forever.

Right! And let's not forget about sexual equality...
Surely men should have to wear them too!

Which is why it is now legal for women to go topless on some beaches in New York. Someone sued, for a woman, and the Judge agreed...if men can go without shirts, women can too if they wish. Some lady was arrested and released a week or so ago, bringing it back to the forefront.

I know that both of those speeds are over the posted limit...but the police usually won't mess with you as long as you are not more than 5 over the limit. Unless of course, they are having a REALLY bad day.

Here around DC they usually give you 12 to 13 mph over the speed limit before you get a ticket. I put my cruise on at about 9 mph over the limit and cruise right past them. Talking to a lot of them, I was a firefighter, they say there are just tooo many people exceeding the limit to be too picky. They would do nothing but right tickets, and they HATE spending the day in Court especially when people try to say "I was only keeping up with the rest of the group". Judges actually like when people say that, they are admitting they are speeding and the Judge lays into them!

As for Montana, an ex-g/f told me when she lived there, her ex-husband would do 100 mph outside of Bozeman.

In South Carolina, or is it Georgia, the Savannah River Nuclear Facility has a gate that they give you a toll ticket at. Over 100 miles later they take the ticket and check the time you were on the road, if it is too long, speed limit is 65mph, then you are plulled over for a check to see what you were doing that took so long. There are no rest stops or exits, so none should be going too slow. The key is they do not care how little time you take! I have a friend that takes his 5.0L Mustang and does over a hundred mph and tries to finish it in under 60 minutes!!! Last few years the cops have had the ability to give tickets, before that since it is a Government facility, they did not have the legal authority. Now you need a cb radio and a good radar detector, but there are still VERY few cops!

Side note...near my home, on my old commute rout, we used to travel thru Route 1, yes the same Route 1 that goes from Maine to Florida. It went thru the middle of a Military Base, local and state cops hated that section, we would FLY thru it and then be back at the speed limit just as it went back into State property! Now the cops can give tickets all along it, DAMN!!!
