Mostly that I need to fix it before I move from the house into my new apartment in city. Otherwise I will have to refund a small part of the prise I was paid for the house to the new owners... |

Posted 13 Nov 2007 by ![]() Post: Another way of counting the beans would be the way we count. Ie, steps necessary to perform quad-dimensional path-integrals:-) Currently we are performing 43,614,208,000 steps per second... Ontop of that we have all the routing and checking operations necessary to run a a four-dimensional computer topology. Still a bit left to blue gene, but we're getting there. |

Posted 10 Nov 2007 by ![]() Post: SETI in all of its variations, not just Seti@home is a long endevour that consumes a lot of time and computer calculations. It will take decades just to get a foundation for a deeper analyzis. This is something people tend to forget. If information is waiting on the shelves for a few years that is not a problem scientifically. The breakthroughs, if any, will take a looooooooong time. And after going through everything we will perhap's only have learnt that there is no one sending in the limited range we are scanning at the time we have looked. But, then we will have learnt to look elsewhere, and look differently and probably in a lot better fashion. Toby, Seti@home is not nor never was a swindle or hoax. If you really want to call someone you can go through the switchboard of the UCLA (one of the largest and most esteemed universities in the known world) and they might patch you through. Perhaps you still prefer to talk to the parrakeets, but if not, you are more than welcome to in a very miniscule way further one of the more interesting and underfunded sciences.
