I just upgraded to Win 10 Last night7-29-15. All went smooth and no problems so far. There was no work units lost or any other Boinc/Seti problems. I keep my fingers crossed. Install took about 1 hour on SSD.

If the 2009 version of a shirt will be available I would like one as well. That would make my "order" total of 2 . One new version X-large and one old (2009) version X-large. Thank you.

Hi all
Since the installers are disabled how does one incorporate AP6_win_x86_SSE_CPU_r1797 ver 0.40 in Boinc? I'm not a computer guru and am having hard time with .7z file uncompressing. Simply put what do I do with files after de/un compressed? I know most of you are much more familiar with it than I am.
Thank you.

Post:
My opinion on this subject has been public since the BBS days and is now online at http://www.giwersworld.org/environment/aehb.phtml The Anti-
Evironmentalist's Handbook. Even though this is 20 years old (and sorely in need of both a good editing and completion and deletion of the rah-rah flag waving opening) I would not change a word of it. All of the problems with the warming claim back then are still problems today. Not a single one has been addressed. The computer programs have gotten fancier but not a single one of them has been verified nor can any model be verified without comparing it to real world events.

When I was a lad -- and I can say that now -- the causes of the weather getting colder were atom bomb tests and sonic booms. Yes, it was getting colder which resulted in The Coming Ice Age as the currently popular apocalypse of choice. And, yes, it was taken seriously by scientists not just a few cranks.

I think the most telling point is 20 years ago we were solemnly scared with the scientific truth that if we did not to something in ten years, the world was doomed, nothing could stop the run away greenhouse effect. That means by 1990 it was too late. Lo and behold that is not true. In 1990 we had only ten years to do something. So next year it is too late. Lo and behold 2.0 we still have ten years before we are doomed.

That ain't science. That is scaremongering.

But if you believe in melting then there is no need to do anything. Buy an SUV leave your lights on, eat drink and be merry because there is nothing we can do. It was all over in 1990.

If you do not like that idea, they were clearly wrong/lying in 1979 and 1980 and in every subsequent year down to today. What person in his right mind listens to chicken littles who are always wrong? Why does anyone take them seriously?

Yes ! I agree 100% with you.
Back in the 70' my teachers would tell me by 2000 if nothing is done about global warming my generation would be doomed. They lied to me but I didn't see that until my early 40. Another thing that was never explained to me is how Mr. Gore is making millions of $ on carbon emission business. Clearly he would not be in this business if there was no money in it. How does a former vice president make his money ? Simply by pushing junk science on ordinary citizens. This is nothing but scaremongering.

After fiddling around a bit I lowered resolution down to 1280X768 and restarted computer. That must have done it as I am processing 1 x 6.08 cuda and 2 x 6.03 work units at this time and no errors yet. Thanks Labbie for your suggestion. Thank you Luke as well. Needless to say this message board rocks !!!!

Yeah 10 years here, long time crunching and nothing to show .....
I decided to hang up the gloves and give it a rest. It is very quiet now in the computer room but I don't miss it that much. Yesterday I found myself listening to the quiet room wondering what has happen when I realized that all 3 computers are off. Maybe one day if SETI is still out there I'll come back but for now I'm fed up and tired of it. Done and over it. I spend a lot of money and time just to have more credits, now is the time to take a break and let the younger generation take over. To all of you good luck. As a side note this SETI community has a lot of good people willing to help unlike any other community on the net. You people are great and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Thank you ALL it's been great 10 years.

Hello to everybody here. I just wanted to add my thoughts about this topic. You won't find to many posts from me here and the reason for that is that I don't take boinc too seriously. It is a project that uses your computer mainly when not being used to do what computers were designed to do eg. home use or business use. So I don't get all upset when there is no work for my computers to crunch. It is a hobby of mine. I learned a lot because of seti. It has pushed me to build my computers from scratch because I wanted to be able to crunch more w.u. Seti made me aware of many other things in the computer world. It is fun for me to learn about the crunching of radio signals. I have been doing this since May of 1999 and through the years there has been multiple setbacks and problems. One thing has to be remembered there will always be someone with better computer than yours, someone with more credit than you and more important than anything else THERE IS LIFE BEYOND SETI. We here in the US are in deep dodo economically, jobs are being lost, we are bombarded with scare tactics on every day bases. The sky is falling. Ohhhhh.... I can't take this any more. Well there you go , relax and if you don't like doing seti it's okay to leave. You'll come back I know I did. by the way English is my second language as well and spell checker has been used extensively to write this post. I hope I did not offend anybody and if I did it was unintentional and I apologize in advance. MrJeep
18) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : Cuda running much better when GPU under 60 C (Message 849787)
Posted 5 Jan 2009 by Profile MrJeep
Post:

I think that is just a coincidence. Supposedly, the GPU can take temps up to 110c (cuda forum at nvidia) and I am running 57c (no load) - 63c (full load) I have two systems and both of them get a bunch of bad WU's in a row then seem to get some good ones. Switching to gpugrid does not generate any similar problems so I assume it is a problem processing the data.

There could also be a memory release problem (leakage) and that would be most evident in seti since they have very short duration wu's compared to gpugrid. I cannot seem to go over about 24 hours without a reboot when running seti or seti beta but I can an easily last an entire weekend or more with gpugrid.[/quote]

yeah.... I think you may be right, after letting the EVGA Precision run in auto again it seems that nothing has changed. Even though the GPU temperature hoovers around 70/80 C no more failures or at least not as often.

I may be wrong on this so correct me if I am. I was getting a whole bunch of failed work units in the beginning after upgrading to boink 6.4.5. Than got hold of EVGA Precision V 1.4.0 and started running the cooling fan at 50% and faster , default or auto was set at 30%. Now the GPU cooling fan is running at 80% and temperature went down to below 60 C. Ever since I have had only few work units fail. Now I do not overclock the graphic card at all and am not running optimized application on this computer. Hey it works for me maybe it'll work for you.
