difference in size of installers (4.19 against latters)
(Message 113959)
Posted 22 May 2005 by phees
Post: This is just a question, no complaint, but why exactly is the new installer with more than 6 MB so much larger than the older 4.19 one? Will it become smaller (optimized) again when the 4.4x development finishes? |

(Message 111056)

Post: Hi. I'm a litestep user and i can't access the boinc systray menu by rightclick. (Litestep 0.24.7 RC3, vtray 1.10) I don't have that problem with any other application! Is anyone out there knowing how to solve it? |

Post: You have to activate a new account and attach to the project. Just go to http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_email_form.php and fill in your data, so your 'classic' account will be translated into an 'BOINC' account. You will get every further information at setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu in the activation process! |

(Message 102306)
Posted 21 Apr 2005 by phees
Post: I temporarily used a workaround: I installed BOINC on my not connected machine and copied the whole folder to my usb-stick, then ran boinc on another machine directly from the stick, waited for BOINC to download WUs and exited BOINC. Then I copied the folder back on the first computer and ran it there, till the work was done and so on. Maybe you have to install BOINC on the other machine first to run it properly (not sure). |

Does BOINC still run?

Post: JKeck is right, hibernate saves a memory dump to the harddisk and powers down, just like 'normal' shutdown. So: No CPU running, no work done. |

Post: Hi, Is there any way to change the color of the lines in the statistics tab's graphs? I can hardly see the yellow line in my tab, a dark red or black (!) line might be much better. |

Litestep user: BOINC systray right-click menu doesn't work
(Message 96286)
Posted 8 Apr 2005 by phees
Post: My systray icon doesn't provide a right-click menu anymore! Since I was told there was one, it might be because I use LiteStep. But every other systray icon works, so I guess it would be a BOINC problem of implementation, not LiteStep. Does anyone know more? |

(Message 96285)
Posted 8 Apr 2005 by phees
Post: My BOINC client doesn't remember it's screen position any more! I thought it comfortable to have it in the same place everytime. Is it only on Litestep machines? (seems to be the problem with systray right-click menu) |

Design: Yellow links of white ground???
(Message 94571)
Posted 4 Apr 2005 by phees
Post: > A statement about how usefully yellow text on white is, is not needed. ;) I > believe he agree with you. The only problem is, there is NO yellow text on > white background anyway. Call it orange, but e.g. the link: Get started -> Read SETI@home's "RULES AND POLICIES", URL: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ is yellow/orange on white. And that with Opera and Mozilla. And not only on my machine. I didn't want to nag around, but since we are talking of it... |

Post: And: You can't control BOINC from the systray anymore!!! (another right-click function killed!) I originally wanted to ask for more systray functionality like selecting to toggle network access, to start graphics etc... Seems so far away now! :-) -- So please, let there be a right-click! -- And: By double clicking the systray icon you could toggle the BOINC GUI on AND off. Now I can only open it and have to close it by hand. Why? On litestep machines you have to switch to the desktop it is placed on to close the window. |

Post: Hi, I liked it better to control by right-clicking the entries in the various tabs. Now I have to use a (compared to 4.19 and earlier) huge GUI window, just to see a few links in the BigBlueBar on the left. So, please, give me a way to turn off that BigBlueBar and give me back my ability to right-click! (even so: great job, keep on) |

Post: Hi. I really like the new SETI-BOINC-page's design, but: Yellow links an white ground? You would have to highlite every link to be able to read it (me at least ;-). Please, choose a darker orange (or even the lightblue of the forum's pages). No, orange is better... Thanks! phees |
