Some uninformed statements here - from Ukraine being a sovereign nation, to Putin "wants" the USSR back.

First and foremost, Ukraine hasn't been a "sovereign" nation since the United States (under Obama and his 'regime-change' operatives Victoria Nuland and Geoffrey Pyatt) financed, facilitated, and backed a deadly and armed coup against democratically elected Viktor Yanukovich. The 'F*** the EU!' phone call proved all this. They literally installed a rabidly russophobic Stepan Bandera-loving, neo-Nazi fascist junta that within days, launched an all-out military assault on the breakaway regions in the Donbass. Why they broke away is obvious if you consider the immediate discrimination policies and outlawing of the russian language. They simply said, 'we don't recognize you as the legitimate government since you literally overthrew the sitting president of our country. You basically tore our constitution to shreds'. What was the response from Kiev? They started launching missiles! Putin clearly seeing Crimea as the next target quickly intervened, however, he let those living in Crimea decide for themselves via a people's referendum for self-determination. Of course Putin expected the referendum to go his way since the vast majority were ethnic Russians, but that's neither here nor there.

Since then, the Donbass had been attacked on a daily basis until the Minsk protocol was agreed upon by Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany (the Normandy format), in spite of US disapproval. However, Kiev and the neo-Nazi elements of their military had continued to strike the Donbass which then forced all sides to again sit down and agree to Minsk II. Unfortunately, Kiev and the neo-Nazi militias under their control still continued to bombard Donbass. Kiev's aggression then slowed down under the Trump administration, but picked up again almost immediately after Biden became president. Biden started arming Kiev with billions of dollars worth of "offensive" military weapons & hardware with a declaration of support for Kiev to "take back" Donbass & Crimea (who just want to be left alone) by military force! Russia has been warning since at least since November 2021 that Ukraine was amassing tons of military hardware at the frontline of Donbass, with about HALF of Ukraine's armed forces also on the frontline. Then of course US/EU/NATO tells Kiev they support them to take back the breakaway region by force, and started shipping in even more weapons. It was only then did Russia start mobilizing troops along their borders to 'counter' what they see as a direct threat against the people of Donbass (who want to be left alone) in order to protect them from a possible genocide campaign by Kiev and their Western handlers.

As it stands right now, I think the US is beginning to realize that Russia won't back down to US/NATO aggression because Russia also has a 'R2P' when it comes to their country, allies, and ethnic peoples living next door and abroad. Can you blame them? The US and Kiev with all their talk of a "Russian invasion" or a "Russian false-flag" just screams of desperation for War by the financially bankrupt West (War is a Racket?). As far as Putin wanting the USSR back... did he ever say such a thing? No, he just said the USSR could have been reformed, even in a democratic nature. In other words, it didn't have to die completely. But leave it to the US and its vassal states... *cough* "allies"... to twist his words.

P.S. I haven't been to this site in YEARS and then came here tonight after seeing a headline about black holes. I almost forgot about this site. Funny that my first post in many years had to be about geo-political matters, something I never followed the last time I was here.

Guilty til proven innocent... got it! Kind of like Saddam and those WMD's that were never found after 9/11.

Sorry to disagree with you, but the burden of proof lies on the skeptics, plain and simple!

It's a hoax. There are strong artifacts in the videos that show that they were altered using commercial video editing software. Then there's the fact that despite the incredible brightness of the UFO, it doesn't cast any illumination on the ground or the dome of the rock. There's a good description here. I think that shows that the people who made the videos are at a minimum being deceptive.

Add to that the fact that nobody else in Jerusalem but the anonymous cameramen seems to have seen it. Nobody phoned the authorities about this sightings. Jerusalem is a big town. You would think some other people would be looking in that direction.

Some people claim that it's supposed to be a viral promo to generate buzz for an upcoming movie about an alien invasion.

This is really a terrible attempt at debunking this particular sighting. They just claim there should be a reflection, the city lights should be blinking, or there should've been more witnesses (even though it was after 1AM in the Middle East, of all places). If these videos are clearly fakes, then they should easily be able to provide a legitimate explanation or point out legitimate discrepancies in all videos.

I'm not saying with 100% certainty that this is a 'UFO from outer space', but there's nothing in at least 3 of the videos that points to it being a hoax. The only possible or likely fake (which I started becoming skeptical of the more I viewed it) is the close-up video, but that could easily be a deliberate fake. However, there's nothing in the other 3 videos that clearly point to a hoax. All 3 are in sync, and the most convincing details are in the 2 videos shot from the same group of people. Just look closer at the timing and the angles from those 2 videos. If you pay attention to the guy with the cell phone in the first video, you'll see that his slightly different vantage point, his side-to-side body movement, and the rate in watch he lowers his phone 'below' and 'above' his head are in complete and total sync with the actual footage shot in the first video.

I'd actually be skeptical of any single one of these videos if they stood alone, but the 3 videos together (excluding the close-up) make me think otherwise.

All I'm saying is that not one single 'skeptic' can or has provided a single LOGICAL explanation for what happened in Jerusalem. All I'm wondering is - GOVT or ET??? I'm open for suggestions.

Here's another video from an apparent 4th perspective showing clearer footage of the red lights up above towards the end.

I just wanted to add that I've seen many a 'UFO' footage and most if not ALL can be easily explained and/or dismissed as natural phenomena or hoax. BUT, these particular videos in Jerusalem have me stumped and would have to have been made by people that make the special effects guys in Hollywood look like monkeys. These 3 separate videos all synch and match up, and appear to be the most legit footage of a possible UFO to date.

If someone manage to release cctv versions of this Israeli incident would be more interesting. Obviously as important public venue there are more than several cctv's likely to record the building nonstop.

Last year there were numerous incidents happened in China, what was that?! Because not much believable medias were released yet actually air traffic disrupted several times in several cities. The official explanation was military test then how many military decision makers would decide to conduct military tests right at own civilian air traffic zone?!

http://abcnews.go.com/International/video/ufo-over-chinese-airport-prompts-probe-11172511 - The whole point is in this case human action disruption actually proved something several times, even confirmed with official source.

No cctv footage just gives more credibility to the 'conspiracy' theorists, so they'll probably come up with an explanation in the coming weeks.

IMO, this is a very sensitive subject among the religious, and since it appears to be very difficult to debunk and/or explain, most are just hoping the mainstream media continues to ignore it and shove it under the rug.

There's a guy standing at the bottom of the first video linked in my initial post who looks to be recording with his cell phone camera. That cell phone video has now hit the internet and has been synchronized with the other video. Just follow the movement of the guy in the first video with the camera movement in the second video, and it appears to match up.

Its a good article, i tend to agree with Prof. Hawking. Intelligent life, if its anything like us, will want to propagate its own species and we would just be a "curiosity" to them.

The article says:
Stephen Hawking's Universe begins on the Discovery Channel on Sunday May 9 at 9pm

I will be watching that on TV, looking forward to it with great interest. Thanks Callum,

John.

My local programming schedule on Discovery Channel is showing a 'Deadliest Catch' marathon running well passed 9pm, and the channel's website is showing the same with no mention of Hawking's show on their schedule. Does anyone know if Hawking's show is still going to be aired tonight?

If the status is saying "suspended" in BOINC Manager, how you are determining that the task is still running?

Time is still elapsing and % of progress is still adding up while status shows 'suspended - user active'. Even if I highlight the WU and click the 'suspend' button from the list of commands on the left, it still continues to run.

Like I already mentioned; all my preferences have been set to 'suspend work while computer is in use' but the WU continues to run. My BOINC manager preferences AND my S@H preferences are the same.

- while computer is in use
- use GPU while computer is in use

Both of the above are unchecked.

- Suspend work while computer is in use?
- Suspend GPU work while computer is in use?

Both of the above are set to 'yes'.

- 'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last

The above is set to '1 minutes'.

As I also mentioned, the only way to get the WU to stop running is to 'exit' the actual BOINC manager and check the 'stop running applications' box upon exiting. However, the problem starts all over when I restart BOINC and pull the computer out of sleep mode to become active again. I was just hoping there was something else in my preferences other than the above settings that I may be overlooking.

I recently downloaded the latest BOINC app and started crunching again and have noticed something a little weird. I have all my settings set to 'suspend work while computer is in use' but a WU always appears to be running even though I'm active on the computer. The status of the WU even says 'suspended - user active' but it's still running and using up system memory. The only way to get the WU to stop running is to actually exit the BOINC manager and check the "stop running science applications when exiting the manager" checkbox during the exit dialog.

Is this some type of known bug in the latest BOINC app, or is there something else I can set in my preferences to get the WU to stop running while the computer is being used without having to actually exit the BOINC manager? I'd appreciate any feedback anyone can give me. Thank you.

Nibiru's orbit around the Sun is highly elliptical, according to Sitchin's books, taking it out beyond the orbit of Pluto at its farthest point and bringing it as close to the Sun as the far side of the asteroid belt (a ring of asteroids that is known to occupy a band of space between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter). It takes Nibiru 3,600 years to complete one orbital journey, and it was last in this vicinity around 160 B.C.E.

I'm open to the possible existence of such a planet, but think it's impossible that life can both originate and evolve into a highly advanced civilization on a planet with such an orbit. How can life survive on a world with an orbit that takes it out beyond the distance of Pluto? The planet would have no water, no heat, or any other essentials needed for such a civilization of beings to evolve and flourish.

Why we need to get back to the moon...

Helium-3

The Supply

Some He3 is available on Earth. It is a by-product of the maintenance of nuclear weapons, which would supply us with about 300 kg of He3 and could continue to produce about 15 kg per year. The total supply in the U.S. strategic reserves of helium is about 29 kg, and another 187 kg is mixed up with the natural gas we have stored; these sources are not renewable at any significant rate. In their 1988 paper, Kulcinski, et al., estimate a total of 1,100,000 metric tons of He3 have been deposited by the solar wind in the lunar regolith. Since the regolith has been stirred up by collisions with meteorites, we'll probably find He3 down to depths of several meters. The highest concentrations are in the lunar maria; about half the He3 is deposited in the 20% of the lunar surface covered by the maria.

The Energy

That 1 million metric tons of He3, reacted with deuterium, would generate about 20,000 terrawatt-years of thermal energy. The units alone are awesome: a terrawatt-year is one trillion (10 to 12th power) watt-years. To put this into perspective, one 100-watt light bulb will use 100 watt-years of energy in one year. That's about 10 times the energy we could get from mining all the fossil fuels on Earth, without the smog and acid rain. If we torched all our uranium in liquid metal fast breeder reactors, we could generate about half this much energy, and have some interesting times storing the waste.

The Value

About 25 tons of He3 would power the United States for 1 year at our current rate of energy consumption. To put it into perspective: that's about the weight of a fully loaded railroad box car, or a maximum Space Shuttle payload. To assign an economic value, suppose we assume He3 would replace the fuels the United States currently buys to generate electricity. We still have all those power generating plants and distribution network, so we can't use how much we pay for electricity. As a replacement for that fuel, that 25-ton load of He3 would worth on the order of $75 billion today, or $3 billion per ton.

The Payoff

A guess is the best we can do. Let's suppose that by the time we're slinging tanks of He3 off the moon, the world-wide demand is 100 tons of the stuff a year, and people are happy to pay $3 billion per ton. That gives us gross revenues of $300 billion a year. To put that number in perspective: Ignoring the cost of money and taxes and whatnot, that rate of income would launch a moon shot like our reference mission every day for the next 10,000 years. (At which point, we will have used up all the helium-3 on the moon and had better start thinking about something else.)
