Well, since I got a new Intel PC, the discussion is moot, as far as I am concerned.

Thanks, all, for your advice.

My apologies. I am the one who is going insane, you are not going blind.

I have changed all the Norton settings, so I don't think it's that, and I use Norton on all my PCs with no such problem. I'll have to see if they have any advice on using a specific (different?) port.

Once again, I'm the one who's probably blind, insane and mistaken.

Thanks,
Andhy

Hi,

I've done this on many other PCs, but I can't get BOINC to connect on my new Dell laptop. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, set my Norton firewall to allow access by ALL the .exe files in the Boinc directory. No help

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Andy

BOINC version 7.6.22 (x64)
Seti@home project
see other details in the image below:

I posted this same question on the BOINC community board, but I was told to re-install BOINC (which I've already done a few times, with no success) and no more information or suggestions.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi,

I got into my profile OK (although it's not obvious how to do so) and I was able to edit my picture, but I can't get my new text to "stick." What can I do to update my text?

Help!

Thanks,
Andy

OK, I installed BOINC and set it to run automatically when the computer starts. So, if I want to change that setting and run it in the CLI version, what should I do?

Thanks,
Andy

I hate to sound like a n00b, but exactly how do you set up either the CLI or GUI to run with low priority?

I hate to argue, but that's what was presented to me as the default value when I signed up just today. I just verified this by adding prefs for my home account: the default is 100GB for "Limits on disk space used by BOINC:". Am I perhaps misreading this thread?

Just curious, but if what you say is true, why do the prefs default to 100GB of space?
