Post: First generation Threadrippers (especially 1950's) seem to be showing more and more on some of the BOINC projects I am participating in. I have pondered if it its related to the high number PCIe lanes they offer which might support the possibility of more than 6 gpus? But so far most of them are showing a tendency to run 1-2 gpus. The one exception I know of for sure is Kevin O's rig which has been running 4 gtx 1080ti's forever. Happy Thursday. Tom M |

Post: I stumbled around trying to find a really low cost Am4 socket cpu and ended up with an Athlon 3000. My mistake. I needed a version 1/2 Ryzen CPU not a version three CPU. Once I got my latest X470 MB bios updated I got the Athlon running under Windows 10. The claim that this CPU is "adequate" to run light office tasks and browse the internet is probably true. But for some reason a 2 c/4t with iGPU doesn't have a lot of "snap" :) Anyway I broke down and bought a used 2200G to use for testing so I don't have to UN-install another version 2 CPU for testing every time I need to. My recommendation is that even office workers should start at 4 cores any more. So probably you minimum as a 2200G or one of the those other 4 core 1st gen Ryzen chips with a discrete gpu. |

And more than half of what I have been processing are re-sends. I am getting 01, 02, and even 03 files. Tom M |

Post: "The Gods Themselves" by Issac Asimov Besides being a darn good story this book as two other noteworthy things about it. 1) It was published as a Serial, 1) Galaxy 2) IF 3) Galaxy. These magazines were being published in alternate months at that time. 2) Critics claimed Issac Asimov couldn't write about sex. In this novel, he did write about (Alien) sex [I think I remember]. Post: Tom, are you referring to a Windows host or a Linux host? The ca-certificates.crt bundle in Linux is in /etc/ssl. Linux. I don't run R@H on Windows anymore. I want to Thank both John and Keith. It is in the process of downloading a new set of "stuff" so it can start doing R@H again. Tom M |

Post: Nope, they are up and running. Having no issues myself. You need to update your BOINC or SSL certificates. I ran the "update-ca-certificates --fresh" no luck. Re-installed BOINC from what I believe to be the latest archive. no luck. Reset project. no luck. Which CA cert should I be looking for to "manually edit" it? It looks like there is near a 100+ in the folder I finally tracked them to. World Community Grid's Cornvid19 is working fine. I can just drop R@H if I can't fix it. Tom M |
