You was so kindly in my first thread, so I have another question for you.

I'm feeling a little dummies, but i can't find the Team Id, to create a Team Counter.

Actually I'm alone in my team, but in few time we'll be a lot (I hope), I'm inviting many friends of my online game, Ogame.

The team ID can be found at the website address of the team. For your team this is 130091.
2) Questions and Answers : Windows : ThreadMaster, how to use? (Message 483657)
Posted 16 Dec 2006 by Profile Thierry Van Driessche
Post:
First: apologize my english! I installed the new version of Boinc for Seti@Home project, in my new laptop. I don'to want to make it much hot, so I installed ThreadMaster, like I did one year ago in the old computer.

I have the old instruction: launch of install.cmd, then modify the file "seti.reg", between the words "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\ThreadMaster\\Parameters\\Applications]" I can specify the percentuage of cpu tu assign at Seti.
But in the new version of Boinc, there isn't even the file "seti.reg". How I can use ThreadMaster with the new version of Boinc?

Thankyou.

The way to configure Threadmaster can be found here. I hope this will help you as I can't give you more details due to the fact I am not using it.

hi, boinc on one system is down
http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen

doese anyone know what is causing this, please
ta
Julian Rouse

According to the Boinc Wiki

Scheduler Request to '(url)' Failed:System Fopen
Unhide the directory you run the BOINC Client Software from. The "system fopen" message is when the BOINC Client Software can't determine where it is running from. If you are running Linux then you may want to try this start-up script or one of these scripts. If you are running Windows XP, and you have hidden the BOINC folder, unhiding it will resolve this error.

I just started after a lapse and tried to install the boinc software. it said it couldnt get online. I have a firewall howdo I configure it to work?

As you downloaded one WU, it seems you figured out how to configure your firewall. If not please come back.
You can also go to the Boinc Wiki and have a look to how to configure the windows firewall.
5) Questions and Answers : Windows : last week 16 results, this week 8 (Message 460422)
Posted 17 Nov 2006 by Profile Thierry Van Driessche
Post:
last week I checked my results page and found i had 16 or thereabouts results. Today I checked and there are only 8!! My credit total is on the increase and at 3548.2 cannot be accounted for by the 8 i see today, nor by the 16 i saw last week.

I have looked at other peoples result pages and some have well over 50 results.

What is happening to my results, am I losing them or are they wiped off the system in a leaky bucket type way over a period of time?

Results for which credit has been given are wiped out after a short time in order to keep the database as small
as possible.

Ever wanted to see what volcanic eruptions, dust storms and changing ice glaciers look like from space? The European Space Agency (ESA) has created a special layer of content that will appear in Google Earth, enabling people to see over 130 new ESA satellite images including natural phenomena and manmade landmarks such as the Palm Islands in Dubai.

8) Questions and Answers : Getting started : No option to join a team. (Message 459811)
Posted 17 Nov 2006 by Profile Thierry Van Driessche
Post:
Problem: No option to join the team, Members (with credit) 0.

Team: Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science

I was told by someone that was trying to join that they couldn't. Well I checked and saw that there was no option to join, unlike the Einstein project that does.

I searched but I can not find any option that would enable/disable that feature.

Any thoughts?

On the page of the team I see

Join this team Join.

Joining that team should not be a problem.

If not already joined to a team, on the page of Your account you find
Team None (find a team)
When clicking on "find a team", it brings you here giving the possibilty to join any team.

been there, done that, same issue. It's like they don't want to recognize the password they gave me.

There are 2 different things: password and account key.
The password is something you need to create, the account key is something that has been send to you by e-mail.
You can't attach to the project by using the account key sended to you, you need to use a password to attach to the project. If you dind't create a password already, you can do it by going here.

Some first attempt of information about it has been made in the Science status page. An interesting reading also is the Future plans.

A lot of people are also waiting for Astropulse to start.

@Byron,
nice to see you here after a long time. I hope you are doing well.

Best regards,

Why cant we log in with e-mail adress in the seti@home client home page?is the server down?

Logging in with e-mail address and password seems to be working fine.
You can log in either by using only your account key or by using your e-mail address together with the password you have created.
14) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Account Number (Message 455182)
Posted 11 Nov 2006 by Profile Thierry Van Driessche
Post:
ok you've been with seti since the beginning remember when you first signed up? remember they sent you an email with you account number it was some screwy number that you used when accessing your account to modify any of your information. thats the number i want

Classic had a user id, which I could find back in the user_info.sah file of the Seti@Home program.
Unfortunately I don't know any other place or website where you would be able to find it back.

Classic had also a password. This password was send by e-mail.

Unfortunately, the webpage to get your Classic password, although still available, isn't returning your password anymore as the database of Seti Classic has been shut down.

Sorry, I don't understand what you really need.
As far as I know, we have an account ID which is the same as account number, we have an account key which can be send by e-mail if needed, we have a cross project ID and we have a password which can be changed by using this form.

Okay..go into your account, edit general preferences, scroll down and you will see the settings you are cahnging. Winthin that is a way to make different setting for work, home and school. Make one of those, work, home or school, the settings you want for your laptop and save the changes. Go back to your accoutn and scroll way down to view your computer, select your laptop and again scroll way down and change the laptop to the setting you just changed, work, home or school. Again save changes. Go to the laptop itself and double click the icon, go to the projects tab and down below that click update. Give it a few minutes because it will probably say you have to wait 10 minutes, and your changes should work fine.

@Mikey,

I am trying with Matt and David Anderson to have things fixed regarding this.
I put a laptop on Boinc 5.4.11, did exactly what you are giving as solution to that problem but am unable to make any change to the preferences.

Did you try to change the preferences on one of your hosts running 5.4.11.

Say you goodnight as it is 1:40 in the night for me.
19) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Proxy Configuration (Message 453439)
Posted 8 Nov 2006 by Profile Thierry Van Driessche
Post:
I would like to attach to SETI project but can't get past the proxy configuration screen. I don't have (or can't find?) an http proxy server. When I click on 'next', it won't let me get past this screen. Any suggestions? Also, I'm a Classic SETI user and yet BOINC doesn't recognize my current data units completed? Maybe I don't even have to attach to a project as I'm a current SETI user?

If your problem is indeed the proxy configuration asked by the earlier poster, Proxy Configuration and Running BOINC behind a proxy server will very probably help you.
If not, please come back.
