Hi Eric,

this is funny. On the boards we have written rules to follow them. I supported all your rules and followed them. Look into my posting history, you dont will find lots of hidden postings. Now you tell us, that the posted rules here was something like a suggestion? Fred can turn the rules like he wants and dont inform the posters here? I have no doubt, that Fred is doing a good job, but sometimes i cant follow administration here.

For example, he gave me a muzzle about talking something special, which is a important part of the Seti history. This part is the main part for my leaving here. There was a group about 25 persons (5 more or less?), that interrupted the boards. I have never seen a rule, which told us, that it is forbidden to talk about them.

After my leaving here, i joined an international board where i feel well suited now. There were funny and adult people from all over the world.

I would like to give the Seti boards a big huge and my best wishes for the future. Here i had a good and hard school of forum postings. I learned a lot and will keep it on for other boards.

After this posting, i have detached all my machines and deleted Boinc. Maybe, sometimes i will come back and we can chat again.

I thought the current rule was Fred's the boss and writes the rules.



Cant find a post, where the rule was changed.

Perhaps Uli is a very good mod and the admin would like to keep her as long as possible. If someone is doing a very good job then they should be allowed to stay longer if you ask me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.



Mmmmmmhhhhhhh, Eric made the rule, that a mod stays only for six month. OK sometimes the mods stays a little bit longer, but the idea was not to keep a mod for ever.
Just curious, why some mods are wearing her tags for soooooooooooooo much longer.

Firstly, I would also like to place on record my support for Uli as a Moderator, as I think she does a damn good job. Yes, she has had cause to moderate some of my posts, but on each occasion she has done so with politeness, fairness, and good humour, and taken the trouble to explain the reasons why. Exactly what you would expect from a good Mod.

Secondly, I would also like to congratulate Angela K for having the courage to speak out on this issue. I also think that Fred has achieved a good and well balanced moderation team that is working well, and I am sure that will continue.

Lastly, count on one hand the number of regular posters on the various Seti boards, then count on the other hand the number of detractors or dissenters. I think you will find that it is only a tiny vociferous few that proclaim to be unhappy. Ample evidence I would have thought, that the current arrangements are adequate, and fit for purpose.

Hi guys, I'm on team anandtech. Twice now in the past 18 months somebody from seti.usa has tried to take over our team. The current culprit is hoopoe. I spoke to our team admin and he's taking care of it, but this really pisses me off. Is this the right place to complain?



Ever tried to complain at the seti.usa boards?

This is a plea for help

We are totally out of manpower to keep the development. The system is now in production, but obviously is not bug free, and these bugs make YOU - our only source of the computing power - very unhappy, and rightly so.

If any of you would like to spend some of your time (for free money-wise, but sharing the system fame and exposing your name on various boards, etc.) to help polish and develop BOINC-related things, we'd be very happy to start the collaboration. Yet, to make things productive we'd appreciate if you send your CV to marksATcs.technion.ac.il.

I can only agree with Mark. Its time to leave Seti. To many downtimes, bad Boinc Managers etc.

I am crunching only a little bit now.


This post should not be understood as a good bye, but Seti and Boinc are not anymore my main Internet interest.

I know how hard it is to be a diabetic. My oldes son got last year type1.

Nah Dude! You must have seen this.

You turned a shop vac into a computer... yet the new 56 boinc wont work on it.

We're like all on the wrong page and shiite. I turned the dishwasher into a computer and it's even water cooled. I'm told it'll run 56 BOINC if I upgrade the control software. The shop vac is my new clothes dryer. I don't think your even allowed to ask about the toilet so we shouldn't discuss it. lol

If I remember correctly you were going to use that as an emergency water supply until you turned it into a saltwater fish tank.
