SETI@home hibernation
(Message 2036042)
Posted 5 Mar 2020 by Davey9009 Post: This is a very sad day. I just received a server I was going to dedicate to the SETI project. Well, after being a member of this project since 2000ish.. I'd like to thank everyone on the project who made this possible. It was truly a great ride and I'm sad to see it end. |

Article on SETI@home's 20th anniversary
(Message 2008349)
Posted 19 Aug 2019 by Davey9009 Post: Interesting Article. Curious as to why a School who supports science would not participate in such a project. To bad there isn't a strong PR campaign to support Seti and the other beneficial projects currently being offered. |

Breakthrough Listening

Posted 19 Mar 2018 by Davey9009 Post: Hello, I recently rejoined SETI after not running it for a few years. I noticed something last week on the screen saver that I never noticed before and haven't seen since. It said "Breakthrough - Listening" Anyone know what that means? |

Should I disable Cuda
(Message 882570)
Posted 5 Apr 2009 by Davey9009 Post: I have been using Cuda since it came out. My problem is last Sept I bought a new video card a 8800 and the fan went out last week. I purchased a new 9800 and now when I run Cuda units my GPU fan is constantly turning on and off. My fear is I will loose another card. Is this normal? If not how can I disable Cuda? |

Posted 26 Feb 2009 by Davey9009 Post: I've been crunching since 2001 and only use the stock Seti. I have been reading a lot about the optimized versions for AP and MB. Here is the system I have and I would like to know what you recommend I run and how if possible. I am not computer illiterate just haven't really tried anything other versions. I am looking to increase the production of work units since my PC is idle for most of the day. 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Starting BOINC client version 6.4.5 for windows_x86_64 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Libraries: libcurl/7.19.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8i zlib/1.2.3 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Running under account Dave and Cheryl 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor [AMD64 Family 15 Model 35 Stepping 2] 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Ultimate x64 Editon, Service Pack 1, (06.00.6001.00) 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.23 GB virtual 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Disk: 931.51 GB total, 723.01 GB free 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Local time is UTC -7 hours 2/25/2009 4:37:08 PM||Not using a proxy 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||CUDA devices found 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Coprocessor: GeForce 8800 GT (1) 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM|SETI@home|URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 4604762; location: home; project prefs: default 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 20-Jan-2009 19:18:19) 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Computer location: home 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Reading preferences override file 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1023.26MB 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1841.86MB 2/25/2009 4:37:10 PM||Preferences limit disk usage to 100.00GB 2/25/2009 5:38:01 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task ap_16ja09aa_B4_P0_00369_20090224_32669.wu_2 using astropulse_v5 version 503 2/25/2009 5:38:01 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task ap_16ja09aa_B3_P1_00385_20090224_05264.wu_0 using astropulse_v5 version 503 |

Video Card Processing
(Message 812813)
Posted 28 Sep 2008 by Davey9009 Post: I have an AMD dual core so I am processing two units at the same time. However, I have a new video card with it's own processor the NVIDIA 8800 GTS Alhpa model. It has a 600 speed processor on it. Does any know how I can have the video card start processing units? A friend of mine says it can be done with the folding project but I have been running SETI for the past 7 years. |
