2) Questions and Answers : Windows : Changes in Results Reporting.. (Message 2030005)

Post:
I noticed in the last few days the following changes in results reporting:
!. All results are missing from some Validation Inconclusive results
2. Only one report shown for some Completed and Validated results
3. Other participants missing from tasks in progress.
4. Tasks shows Completed and Validated with additional task in progress.

Is there a reason for the changes? I often use the reports of others to compare the speed of my computers to other similar devices.
3) Questions and Answers : Windows : Cannot Install or Reinstall Any Version of BOINC (Message 2029192)
Posted 25 Jan 2020 by Profile Earl F. Parrish
Post:
I downloaded BOINC 7.16.4 to test it. The installation pointed to a file location I could not access. The attempted installation removed the earlier version of BOINC. When I tried to reinstall BOINC 7.14.2, I received the same error for an inaccessible file location. When I try to uninstall BOINC through Control Panel, the same inaccessible file location error reoccurs.

It may not be just Windows only but there seems to be more work units with validation inconclusive. The most I usually see are ten or less. It is up to fifty-five on work units in which I participated.

The duplicate listing is gone now. The Work unit which show as in progress was not on my computer but was finally listed as completed at 21 Dec 2019, 9:40:46 UTC, which was several hours prior to my first post in this thread. At that time the work unit was listed as I described in my initial post.. By the time you posted, the duplication had been corrected. The second instance of the work unit was no longer in the listings.

7) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : Question about ATI HD 5450 GPU (Message 1988652)
Posted 4 Apr 2019 by Profile Earl F. Parrish
Post:
My setup had two Nvidia GPUs which ran with no problems. later I noticed that one of the card was running at a high temperature. I discovered that one of the fans was rubbing against its housing. I replaced that card with an ATI model. I installed the drivers and started BOINC. Two ATI tasks were downloaded. The ATI GPU started on the tasks but keep switching back and forth between the two tasks every minute or so. Is this normal or is there some setting I overlooked?

Is it my setup or is it taking longer to complete GPU tasks? My maximum times used to be under twenty minutes for most non-Astropulse tasks but now some tasks take over one hour for non-Astropulse tasks. I have an AMD FX-8350 CPU with a two Nvidia GPUs- an Nvidia GTX-750TI and an Nvidia GTX-760. Both are running the latest drivers from Nvidia. I have thirty-two gigabytes of memory.

Workunit 3246635500 has been listed with Validation Inconclusive since December 4, 2018. A third task was sent out whose results agreed with one of the two inconclusive results. Why is the validation still inconclusive yet another task has not been sent out to resolve any inconsistencies?

I use the clean install option which removes the old drivers before installing the new drivers. I suspect that OpenCL programs is running during the installation although I have turned off BOINC. The OpenCL application apparently tries each task and fails during the time the drivers are removed and there is no mouse and keyboard actions.

14) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Reporting Lost Tasks (Message 1952377)
Posted 27 Aug 2018 by Profile Earl F. Parrish
Post:
There should be a way to report tasks lost through computer failure or operator errors. These tasks could then be assigned to a new person without waiting for a timeout error. I recently had to install a hard drive which was cloned earlier and had tasks which had already been completed. I turned off receiving new tasks on the cloned drive so that I could reset the old completed tasks on that drive. Somehow, the receive new tasks was turned back and I ended up resetting new tasks which had not been completed along with the old tasks which I had already completed previously. So I am carrying thirty-three tasks which are no longer on my hard drive but are due within three weeks..

I was assigned Workunit 2389552619. I noticed when I checked my results later, I was only given eight minutes to complete the task. The report had timed out. The other user who was assigned the same task was given until May 25, 2012. Why was that?

All is well. I did not notice that the "Show All Tasks" was a toggle with "Show Active Tasks." I must have clicked on it when I click on the BOINC Manager window to bring it to the front when it was covered by the browser window.
