same problem, posted about it in BOINC forums, there are more people reporting this problem. I went back to 5.x. You said you reinstalled and it worked, now try restarting your computer and see if it still works.

I reinstalled and it worked, then when I restarted it went 100% of the time again.

I'm seeing exactly the same thing. It works for one session after a re-install and then I get 100% after a reboot.

I guess I can try the older version, but then I'll be prompted to confirm admin everytime I restart.

If you set your preferences online via your account, then the preferences aren't adhered to until it contacts the servers again. Uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC will force communications to the project, and so will pressing the Update button on the Projects tab.

I had updated the projects, resync with BAM!, etc any number of times.

I uninstalled and reinstalled bonic and that seems to have resolve the suspend issue. SETI won't issue any new work to my machine for the moment but my other project is suspending correctly.

Thanks for the comments.

I just downloaded version 6.2 to run on Vista. Now My bonic tasks use 100% of the CPU, even though I have my preferences set to suspend. I've tried creating new preferences, using the Perferences in the GUI, all to no effect. Only Setting activity to suspend will work.

I was happy to see a vista friendly version of bonic but I'll have to drop out entirely if I can't get my machine back!
