SETI@home Classic & BOINC Freeze
(Message 114871)
Posted 25 May 2005 by mith Post: Sorry, to be specific neither client has been able to run without freezing since then. The computer in question is actually running under another ID. I have continued upgrading the client though it cannot process any work without freezing. I just tried the Prime95 stress test which also results in a freeze, so I am led to believe something in the hardware is failing where it hadn't before. |

SETI@home Classic & BOINC Freeze
(Message 114755)
Posted 25 May 2005 by mith Post: This computer has been able to run the classic and boinc seti clients with no problems, but some time ago BOINC began to crash [after a version 2 to 3 upgrade i think]. Either client will freeze the computer within a few minutes with no errors logged. The motherboard/CPU temperature shows no abnormal increase. The BIOS settings are in order. This freeze only occurs when running a SETI client, otherwise the computer is stable for weeks running many other programs. It is a MSI 745 Ultra motherboard, AMD Athlon XP 1800MHz, 2 sticks of 512MB DDR 266 RAM, running Windows XP SP1. |
