Post: Not sure of the gpu question, I haven't seen that happen or read anything about it. I found that with BOINC v7, there's a bug that throws BOINC v7 into high priority mode when you have a fairly high cache setting and tasks with less than a 10 day deadline, so lower the "minimum work buffer" a few days and see if they drop out of high priority model I described this in: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=72906&postid=1421460 |

Post: Agree with Tulio, you don't need virtual box, so I'd install the version without it. First step should be to install the optimized apps. Then, edit the app_info.xml file with Notepad to change the count to .5 for 2 at a time, .33 for 3 at a time. The application details page says you once ran the optimized apps but are not running them now. Did you have a problem with them? Another method is to create and use an app_config.xml file and set the counts the same way. |

Post: I suspect there may be more to come on this - perhaps badges for total credits or something. Seems to be "under construction" and perhaps that's why there has been no comment from the project. Milkyway announced a badge system 2 weeks ago and expected to implement it within a few days, but has not done so. Perhaps they are the one that asked for web page changes to accomodate it. For info, here's what Milkyway plans to implement. I think this is the latest, but there have been changes and I may not have one: As a user, you can expect to have between 0 and 4 badges on your MW profile: I think it is interesting that Milkyway went for total credits and years of crunching, and so far SETI has gone for RAC. |

Post: Do the BOINC upgrade before you install that gpu. I would suspend all processing on the activity menu before I shut down for the gpu install. That will give you a chance to install the drivers, etc. before BOINC decides the gpu is not usable. You will want to rerun the Lunatics installer and select the cuda 50 application versus the cuda 32 you are running. |

Post: Not sure what's causing the high cpu time, maybe someone else will spot it. Here's two thoughts that may contribute to that high time: 1.) Three at a time is ambitious for that gpu with v7. My 670 works best at two at a time. Try that to see if it helps and wait to test 3 at a time until you get repeated good results. 3 may be okay for astropulse, you'll have to experiment. 2) Increase the priority of the gpu tasks from the default (below normal) to above normal by editing the mbcuda.cfg file. There is text in that file to help understand the syntax. The file is in your Seti@Home directory. I'd leave the other settings at default values until you have a track record with those settings. |

Splitter file stuck?

Post: AFAIK the splitter status has shown the following for at least two days and probably longer. That file has been stuck for several months and has been mentioned several times in the Panic Mode thread. It was "unstuck" a few weeks ago, but did not complete and is stuck again. |

Post: Last time contacted server 23 Dec 2013, 8:06:00 UTC If you installed that gpu after that last contact, it will be repored on the next update. Look at the event log and see what it says on startup. If you instaled cuda 50 but had some cuda 32 tasks on hand, it is just getting rid of those and new work will be labeled cuda 50. Look at the stderr reports on your task page, or post a link to it so we can verify and look at the cpu times. |

Post: ! :-( !! ! They're okay for me. They had been a problem for me but they just started loading. I'm also getting the "Can't connect" and "internal HTTP server error" messages, and just had a timeout for first time in a long time. That one reported 2 completions but did not generate any ghost tasks. Update: My last two work requests connected and I got one Ap task. I have prefs set for AP only so there may be MB tasks. Cricket just took off saying work is flowing. |

Too many invalids

This all started with a stuck download as in thread http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=73521. I have been watching this computer and something is just not right. I am looking for some guidance. Thanks Bill, I had hoped someone with the magic answer would have responded by now. I'm not sure of the cause, but maybe we can eliminate some possibilities: 1) What are the gpu temperatures? Are you controlling those? 2) Have you rebooted after the problem started? 3) Anyone have ideas? |
