The masks are out already, My best freind saw people (IN THEIR CARS!!!!?!?!) driving home from work w/masks on! He called me up to ask me what the H was going on LOL- I reassured him and told him it's a mild case of Wideasspreadus panic. Poor guy told him to load up the shotguns just in case =)

i have a question about seti mybee it is dumb but, one of the things you always need is hard drives. why does seti not use peoples spare hd space the same as they use spare prossecor time? or do they? there is alot of spare hd space. i have two 20 gig drives in my machine i do not even use. i know 20gig is a drop in the bucket but 20 gig times all your users?

Just to throw my 2 cents in with the other replies...it would take a significant amount of bandwidth to transfer the files to users' systems plus the possibility of data loss (user quits, system dies, etc.) makes it just not worth the attempt.

I'm w/Randy on this one, could cause more trouble than it's worth. Not to mention people getting upset over rac scores if one of my gerbils died and did'nt validate someone else's work.

they already have the power to do this. just try and look at any pedophile material(NOT recommended) you are blocked from viewing it because the FBI watches the traffic. BTW this is not first hand info. I know this from documented pedophile cases. Also any pedophile site is most likely an FBI or other gov't source. yet I digress

Yes the gov't is already in control of the interweb. also note that the interweb uses US designations for sites. So the final word is that this isnt really news if you've paid attention

They have the power to completly shut it down NOW? The net? Really? That's what the stoy's about, not looking over your shoulder to see what you're visiting ( which I know they could now) No they're talking about a SHUTDOWN - which is kinda silly as I thought that net could stand up to a nuke attack. Call me silly but that's kinda scary no?

In Denver, I break the law every week...

It's against the law to drive a black car on Sunday.

Shhhhhhhh...

I have read also that it is against the law in Colorado to collect rainwater for use!?

True or not?

I wouldn't have believed it, but I guess...

But according to the state of Colorado, the rain that falls on Holstrom's property is not hers to keep. It should be allowed to fall to the ground and flow unimpeded into surrounding creeks and streams, the law states, to become the property of farmers, ranchers, developers and water agencies that have bought the rights to those waterways

In the west in general the water on your land is not yours.

Thankfully the Air is Free still.

For now LOL

All I can say is I hope this doesn't happen! Because having a source of fast information on how to survive anything from earthquakes to zombie hordes is a bad thing

simply digusting .....

I know it's sad how much it has changed since we were young, in the late 70's early 80's I remember the same situations as you. I agree with Gary on his point that (GREED)"everything counts in large amounts" (depeche mode ref.) And that respect has gone out the window, respect the object - not the person.
The best I can do is give my respect/support/empathy to my family/neighbors/coworkers when things get bad. That's the other sad thing about this that some people have lost their empathy and have traded it for apathy. It's also sad that people don't seem to get it until a disaster hits - not like somewhere in Italy where a quake hits (Oh that's on the other side of the world so why should it bug me?) But if something was to happen here (God forbid) like Yellowstone going up and covering the breadbasket w/ash... Unfortunately it takes a disater to wake people up.
Bad parenting may be part of the cause but I think our society as a whole may be responsible for this (I'm looking out for myself so go blank yourself)
But enough of my ninety cents =) Thank you klc for bringing this =)
