Yes, I notice this also about a week ago. I'll tweet them and maybe that will get their attention more than this forum. :-)

Can someone explain to me the difference of an Astropulse and a regular SETI@home unit that my computer processes?

Thanks for the response. I searched around the message boards, but didn't see any post about emails.

I understand about the SPAM potential hazzard, but team ownership comes with responsibilites. If a team owner becomes childish and SPAMs, I'm sure the members would leave the team.

I have over 500 members in my group. Basically, I would like to do what SETI does to me once a year about donations (except I wouldn't ask for donations....I would ask for inactive members to consider coming back to SETI and crunching data). In the past, I would email members when the group consist of about 50 to 100, but now it would eat up too much of my time to copy and paste emails.

I will check out some programs. A good parser program would work great. Search for the '@' symbol, the scan left until white space and scan right until white space. hmmmmm, if only I had the time. :)

Have a good day.
Josh

Insert Marine jokes about Jarheads. :)

I KID, I KID! I'm just a Zoomie anyway, so you could say I'm jealous, right?

Why do sailors carry Marines on the ships?

....because sheep are too obvious.

Thanks for all the replies. Such friendly people on the boards.

I actually have been copying the entire folder and after the installation, I would just paste the folder over the new ones and replace them. For some particular reason, I didn't work this morning. I got a system error.

Oh well, this isn't the first WU I've lost in 8 years. :)

I searched the forums and found no answer to my question. I work in the computer lab at my college. All computers are imaged, so I have to install BOINC after every restart.

I have a big WU saved on my drive (that isn't imaged) and I want to copy and paste it into the BOINC folder so I can complete it. It's about 88% finished and I hate for it to get deleted. Where in all the installed BOINC files are the WU and what is the best way to get it going on this computer I'm currently using all day?

Sincerely,
Josh
11) Message boards : Number crunching : Question on Team Ownership Transfer. (Message 652887)

Post:
Basicly, yes.

Although they did not neccessarily have to be a new join. It could of been an existing team member who sent the transfer request, and then left afterwards.

As far as I can tell, once the person who requested the transfer left the team the transfer is nullified; so it will not happen. Since the linking person has been removed, there is no where for the transfer to go.

I received a notice this afternoon that the source code has been fixed to avoid this annoyance. I don't know what the fix was, nor do I know when S@H will apply the fix.

That's good to hear. If anybody gets an update, please post.

I went under team management and viewed the log file and the member requesting team ownership was part of my team from 20 Sep 2007 11:04:02 UTC to 20 Sep 2007 11:04:37 UTC.

There's no telling how many teams he did this to.

About the PM to the other member, I looked all through the 200 members of my team and found no "Jake" who requested the transfer.

You may of have someone temporarily join your team, then send the transfer requset and afterwards drop from the team.

The trac, 13181, seems to address this issue.

I played around with this, and post my results on the BOINC forums: Person requesting Founder Transfer leaves team

After reading your test results, I'm unclear on something. Basically, you are saying that somebody joined my team, requested a team transfer, then quit the team. This resulted in my problem to deny the request for transfer?

Well, I wish the staff at SETI would not include the message (after 2 months with no reply, the member requesting the transfer would be giving the option to take over the team foundership) in their email if it doesn't work.

About the PM to the other member, I looked all through the 200 members of my team and found no "Jake" who requested the transfer.

In the end, I hope SETI puts together a better way of doing this process.

Well, I did some more digging on why I can't deny my team transfer. This is what I came up with:

1) I found a log that shows SETI@home progress/work (or a passdown log, where each programmer communicates after changing shifts so that they don't run circles around each other.) Scroll down to 27 Oct 2006 and read what Rytis wrote:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/boinc/checkin_notes?rev=1.4384;content-type=text%2Fplain

2) I experimented with the links. The link I was getting in my email was the following:
http://seti.........team_change_founder_form.php?teamid=110064
This link bypassed my attempt to deny the request to hand over my ownership.

3) So I tried replacing team_change_founder_form.php to:
http://seti.....team_change_founder_action.php. This took me to a page that stated: "Unable to handle request" with this error: "missing or bad parameter: action". I also tried the (new) link:
http://seti.....team_founder_transfer_action.php

That resulted in the same "Unable to handle request" page. I think this is a problem that's out of my hands. Hopefully the staff at SETI will fix this situation soon. I have 1 month and 29 days left before I lose my foundership of my team:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=110064

Is there anybody else out there having a similar problem?
Sincerely,
Josh

I post this thread because I can't not find an answer anywhere to my problem. Over the past 6 months, I have received many automated SETI@home emails stated that a group member of my team wants to retain ownership. I wish to deny this request due to the fact I established this team in 1999 and as of today still crushing SETI units.

Here is the email I received:
--------------------
Team member Jake has asked that you
transfer foundership of U.S. Marine Corps in SETI@home.
Please visit
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu//team_change_founder_form.php?teamid=110064
to transfer foundersnip or decline user's request.

If you do not respond to this request within two months, Jake will
be given the option to become the team founder.

Please do not respond to this email.
The mailbox is not monitored and the email
was sent using an automated system.
-------------------------

When I click on the link to deny the user's request, I go straight to a page where I HAVE TO CHOOSE a new founder and not giving the option to deny. Why can't I deny the request? I have 2 months to find out or I lose my ownership of the team I created 8 years ago.

Sincerely,
Josh.

PS: I posted this same message under team recruitment, which I believe is the wrong topic for my problem. sorry.
